Gotta swith up the switchblade key
Hey guys,
Aight I recently got a Viper 5901 alarm system. I need to turn my 07-08 switchblade key to a 04-06 reg key. Since people upgrade from the reg key to the switchblade I see no reason why it cant be the other way around. The switchblade is being used as a key only and taking up too much space on my keychain right next to to the Viper alarm. I dont know the first thing about this subject, so let me know!!

I should be possible, but I'm not sure you can do it with a regular Acura key. The reason being that it is a laser cut key, and without doing the research myself - not sure they make a standard key (maybe the MDX/RDX doesnt have the switchblade?)
What I would look into doing is going to a locksmith where they will have access to multiple keys with corresponding tronsponder chips.
Otherwise - just to throw it out there, why not just use your valet key? Since your getting the alarm, you can just pop the trunk remotely without the key. Granted, you wont have access to lock/unlock your golvebox or the trunk pass through - but me personally, I don't use any of those anyways.
Edit: Just thought of it. Just get yourself another valet key, and have it cut to the normal key specs (they add some teeth that the valet key is missing). That should fix your prolem. I would still recommend a locksmith as you'll be paying about $80 key/cut/programmed vs $200 from dealer)

Hey, thanks for your feedback. The Viper alarm is already programed to my OEM switchblade transponder. So pretty much all I need is a laser cut key I guess. Allright Ill go to a locksmith and see what they can whip up for me.
