Yeah, seems that it is about the same price! Although, you may have a 1-up on me because I didn't include finding the lic plate assy at a junkyard yet. Post those damn pics!!! Oh yeah, is the cup coming out for these shots?

I'll see if he can get two sets of the common items. I can have him use the excuse that he is trying out two diff mods to see which one looks best.

Deray says plated? plated chrome? I would verify that. Those hood pieces are not plated.

Are we talking 04-06? or 07?

I'll try to get the guy I know at the dealership to verify as well. They may not be chrome plated specifically but could still be plated, maybe? Hopefully alex got a chance to look at a TL today.

The "cup"? Do you mean where the "A" logo is kept? That is what I refer to as the cup...

{link}

That is definitely staying in there, for now and forever!

Sorry I missed that call man, but thanks for the info. Alex is supposed to email me some prices tomorrow. He was busier than exoected. He said that if the process works (is applied correctly, successfully) then it will last the life of the car. Alex said we have to take the rear strip off first before we ship it to him but I am sure everyone knew that already.

Let me know how that works out with the parts.

I already knew 07 came like that. But Delray said 06 was like that. Plastic with chrome plate. Maybe it's that satin chrome Alex was talking about type finish. That's why I asked for you guys to help me check on it. Find anything out?

I've searched high and low, and can't find any junk yards with a TL "in stock" so I can get that license plate trim. The one guy I talked to make it sound like they would sell it seperately anyway (just whole trunk lid). It seems that the TLs are a hot commodity in the junk yards.

www.car-part.com

Problem is, that rear center plate trim is part of the trunk, and ain't no junkyard gonna sell it seperate of the trunk lid. I'd give this up. Even if you can find a trunk lid that's slightly damaged, odds are they'd break the center plate mount removing it.

I'm a car-part.com ninja, but when it comes to shit like that, I know thwe junkyards response.

You can buy an entire grill for under $100 though.

Just take off the trim and send it in.

Wow. If something like this actually works, it'll be super-popular...for a number of applications. We'll see if it's non-toxic and safe for the environment, though. No one wants another Vapoorize situation.

I think the chrome paint for the hyper black doesn't look all that bad. However I'm looking for a darker black chrome with that bluish hue. This does present an alternative for others though. Heck I might even look into using that Hyper black on my model I'm redoing.

That sucks! But, actually, Alex said the same thing. Take it off. Are you still going to do all of that stuff to your car Kennedy?

My friend at the dealership finally got back to me today. He's been sick and then had a business trip. I had to resend him the email with the parts list and he is going to check on them today.

Hopefully if the price is right, he'll be able to get 2 sets of some of the pieces so I can hook you up Darksom1. All this creeping about for the best price, I feel like a

My friend got back to me. He said the prices that I gave him from acuraoemparts.com are a little better than what he can get them at. Sooo...

Darksom1, Have you checked with Tim at Honda Acura World about the pricing?

Bretallica, You got the '07 type S hood trim right? Do you have the part number for it?

Trancemission, how are the emblems holding up so far? Got any pics of them mounted yet?

I put the parts I'm planning on getting (minus the '07 hood trim as I can't find a part number for it) into the shopping cart on acuraoemparts.com and got the following:

Product SKU# ........ Description ....................... Qty ... Total Price
75120-SEP-A00 ..... MOLDING ASSY., HOOD ..... 1 ...... $ 35.60
75125-SEP-A00 ..... MOLDING, FR. GRILLE ........ 1 ...... $ 35.70
75705-SEP-A00 ..... EMBLEM (A) ....................... 1 ...... $ 24.14
75701-SEP-A00 ..... EMBLEM, RR. CENTER (A) ... 1 ...... $ 17.90
75711-SZ3-A00 ..... EMBLEM, RR. (ACURA) ........ 1 ...... $ 13.64
75722-SEP-A00 ..... EMBLEM, RR. (TL) ............... 1 ...... $ 11.80
08F20-SEP-200A ... EMBLEM, A-SPEC ................ 1 ...... $ 18.40

............................... Subtotal: $157.18
*Shipping Charge [may vary]: $ 9.43
................... Handling Charge: $ 2.95
.............................. Sales Tax: $ 0.00 (will be applied when confirming order)
........................... Total Order: $169.56

The shipping charge for just the first 3 parts is $6.80. I plan on emailing Tim about what his prices are if Darksom1 has not already done so.

I believe the part number for the TL-S hood molding is:

75120-SEP-A10ZA and it ran me $36.50.

The prices you have for the other parts are very similar to the price I paid, like within a few cents for each one.

acuraoemparts.com doesn't recognize that number, however that doesn't mean it's not the correct one. I'll check with Tim.

Good to know that the prices are comparible.

I hope to be able to order these parts tomorrow. I'll have to get a hold of Darksom1 so we can sync up on get Alex going on this. It's probably going to take several weeks, but I think it will be worth it.

Just a smidge of advice: if you're going to get anything chromed, be sure you have everything chromed by the same place. The OEM TL-S hood trim molding that I got from Acura looks sweet on my setup, but it is slightly mismatched in color with the pieces that I had sent in for chroming. It's not noticeable during the bright sunlight, but when the sun goes down or when it's overcast (living where I live, I experienced each of these weather conditions within a three-hour time period if you can believe that) you can notice the difference. I'm probably going to buy another base TL hood trim molding and send it in for chroming just so I can have that "perfect" match, although as-is, it's pretty good.

^-- thanks for mentioning that. I really didn't have intention of putting the '07 trim on with it blacked out. My main purpose in it is to help other people out by letting them see what it looks like with the '07 style chroming. It'll cost me extra, but I've benefited from others experiments on here so I don't mind.

Tim got back to me on a quote. He was several dollars cheaper than acuraoemparts. Here is what I ordered today:

'06 parts:
75120-SEP-A00 - MOLDING ASSY., HOOD
75125-SEP-A00 - MOLDING, FR. GRILLE
75705-SEP-A00 - EMBLEM (A)
75701-SEP-A00 - EMBLEM, RR. CENTER (A)
75711-SZ3-A00 - EMBLEM, RR. (ACURA)
75722-SEP-A00 - EMBLEM, RR. (TL)
08F20-SEP-200A - EMBLEM, A-SPEC

'07 Parts:
75120-SEP-A10ZA - MOLDING ASSY., HOOD

Total with shipping was 190 something. Can't remember exact amount. I should get them mid to end next week. With that timing I should be able to get them shipped to Alex before I have to start traveling.

Darksom1, have you talked to Alex lately? I probably should get a hold of him soon to let him know that I'll be sending him parts later next week.

I missed that call earlier today man. I was training someone. I haven't received a call back from Alex. If you try, then let him know that you were one of the people I (Ray) told him about with the grill work needing to be done. Good luck though Buda, really.

Got all that parts in. I emailed alex to let him know. I hope to ship them out tomorrow. I am having the '07 type-s hood trim done as well, in case anyone with the '07 wants to see what it looks like. I hope this comes out good.

Here's a before pic of what I'm sending:

Ok, you just can't do that to me. You gotta let me know something, send me a PM. I want to make sure this isn't something that will cause me to hold back on sending the parts to alex for the black chroming.

Did you get the emblems mounted yet?

Come on now, I've been keeping the thread up-to-date. Heck I was keeping it alive with many posts in a row. lol

I did get alex on the phone and let him know that I was serious and had ordered the parts. I sent him an email tonight about address and instructions. I'll follow up on the phone tomorrow if I don't hear back from him.

However trancemission may cause me to wait depending on what he is coming up with.

I'm also thinking of getting the mesh off the '07 and doing that same mod that one of the other members did in another thread.

Quick Reply: Got some emblems back.
