You guys are also forgetting something.

It is not just about equal weight to equal horsepower to equal torque.

It is gearing.

My E36 99 M3 has a measly 3.2L 5sp I6 240hp/236 torque. I forget what the weight was, but id say @3200pounds w/o driver. But anyone who has driven one would agree. The car was ALWAYS in a power band. ALWAYS.

0-60 times were @5.5 secs.

Seriously, I love going fast. I did some amateur SCCA stuff w/ an ITS GS-R, BUT
you people are feeling all big and bad about flooring and street racing an AUTOMATIC sedan.

Don't get me wrong, the SS is alright, but even at the right shift point, there is soooo much lag. Try driving the new SMG trans in the M3. Yipppeeee

Not trying to thrash anyone, but come on.... For 30-35K you could buy a little bit better racer to brag about beating, "this escort, this maxima, this yugo, this guy on a mountain bike." attitude. For all of us who have had "faster/more capable" cars, pls let em know.

The car was probably chipped. There's three different tuners than make chips for Volvo turbos. The S60R/V70R can make 350HP and 340lbs of torque with a chip.

He lost to a CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC70 CONVERTIBLE. No R version.

I'm speculation that the C70 was probably a magical C70 convertible with magical fairy dust....that's probably the reason he lost..
