Angry Got pulled over again!!!!!!

So I'm driving down the street (Van Nuys Blvd. in Sherman Oaks for all you SoCal members) and next thing you know the flashing lights and spotlights from behind. Two cops come up from either side. As soon as he steps up to the driver window I tell him its a new car and point out the temp registration on the windshield. He was really cool and said he didnt see it from behind but would like to see my insurance and license. So after looking at it he says all is good. Then the other cop on my passenger side asks me when I bought the car. After I tell him a month ago he questions why I don't have the plates yet. I told him that the dealership told me the temp registration is good for 60-90 days since the DMV sometimes takes a while. He says NO WAY its only good for 30 days. Incidentally they pulled me over in front of Keyes Acura and I told him if he didn't believe me to go inside and ask. Instead he reaches for the temp sticker and I ask him what are you doing? He says he needs to look at it. I tell him the way they put the sticker on you can see the VIN and date of purchase what else do you need to see. He peels it off anyways and looks at if forever. finally he says alright all good and puts the sticker down on my seat and tells me to make sure to have the sticker in the car at all times incase i get pulled over. Thats when my sarcasm and anger comes out and I tell him that s why the stickers on the windshield in the first place!!!!! This is now the third time in 2 weeks I've been pulled over!!!

Perhaps its the beauty of your car that is attracting all the cops to pull you over?

That cop was being a jerk!

Good thing you are trying to keep it legal (35% tint in the rears only and no front tint). I would definitely consider having front plates now (once they arrive) since you have turned into a cop magnet. Hopefully you don't run into anymore cops like that passenger side one.

Your car is a beauty.

black on black with mods / tint and no plates.........you're asking for it, even when you finally get the plates!

California...

Many US states have a known problem of "temp tag" forgery. The cop was inspecting the tag to ensure it was authentic. I

black rims attract lots of police attention, closely followed by chrome.

the combination of a low, tinted out nice car with black rims, your almost asking for it.

Actually, I have been pulled over more with chrome rims than black wheels when I had them. I will not buy chrome living in Jersey anymore. Sucks about the hassle, I would get on the phone with the dealer to make them get a move on with the plates.

Its not just those, those get you noticed. Its the lack of real tags that screams "I just stole this car and I'm using 'fake' temp tags to cover for me until I can unload the car"

yea, cali cops .... pssh.. funny thing was when i had my car for about a month. cop pulled me over for not having stickers in the rear plates. The thing was.. it never came with the license plate and i was just about to go to the DMV to get them the next day or so. Then the cop looks in the front and said i had no front plates and wrote me up on that too.. and the funny thing is.. the other cop was just commenting about the TL and the NAVI... And so i asked the cop to let me slide this time and what he said was... it's ok. THEY WONT CHARGE YOU FOR ANYTHING. Next thing you know, I have to pay a $10 fix-it. that fukkin cop lied.

anyways.. you car is really clean. I think they jus pulled u over to take a look at your car haha.

CA DMV does take up to 90 days on transfers. Cops know that.

Thats may be true but what I don't understand is why he needed to do that after I already showed my license and proof on current insurance on the car. That should prove my registration is legit. That's what I'm pissed off about!

Your drivers license and proof of insurance doesn't mean the car is legally registered.

That's bullshit. This isn't 1996 and you don't have a Civic with the springs chopped. I have not been harassed like that since my highschool days when lowered cars were pulled over just because they were lowered and the cops wanted to measure the height of your lights.

Well would'nt you know today in the mail I get my registration. Since I have personalized plates and the front plate was mangled in my accident 2 months ago I ordered new ones at the DMV and have the reciept to show if I get pulled over. But I'm sure if and when they pull me over they'll find something to harass me for!!

thumbsup: Too True! Temp Tags are a RED FLAG to any good COP. ANything you do to attract atention to yourself is going to be noticed. Sometimes that is good, sometimes that can be bad. Get used to it or go with a stock looking exterior.

the idiocy in this thread is high. Let me put it to you this way. If some thief steals your pimped up car and slaps temp tags on it, would you have a problem with a cop grilling this thief about riding around in a flashy car that doesnt look new, yet has new plates?

Are you guys seriously bitching about sacrificing 30 mins of time because the law is making our properties more secure?

unbelievable. I'm gonna go start a thread on the damn firemen that waste my time when they respond to fire alarms which are false.

I guess mods attract attention. I got a ticket driving my modded G35 Coupe, for going 10 over the limit on the freeway. Cop didn't even ask to see my license or registration. Just asked if the car was mine, then walked back to his bike, and came back with a ticket.

Hoewver, a few days ago... I was driving the TL , which is bone stock... Well, except for the tints that are a little darker than legal... shhhhhhhhhh

I was going 60-65 down through a new street that didn't even have any buildings yet, and all th side-streets were empty cul-de-sacs. I saw a cop hiding in one of the cul-de-sacs, then I saw him flip the lights on and then rushing to catch me (and weaving around cars), and I knew I was busted, so I just pulled over and waited for him to catch up....

Cop walks up to me, and says, "You know why I pulled you over?"

I've never gotten any breaks before, so I figure time for a new strategy... So I said, "Yeah, I was going 60 back there"

Cop says, "Do you want a ticket today, or should I just give you a warning?"

I said, "Well, that would be up to you. "

Cop says, "You didn't answer my question, do you want a ticket or not?"

So I said, "Well, nobody ever wants a ticket, but I was speeding back there, so I'm not going to tell you what to do".

Cop says, "Do you know what the speed limit is?"

I said, "YEah, I think it's 45".

Cop procedes to tell me that he can understand how it's so easy to drive so fast on this street, and tells me to be careful. Even warned me that there is a task force in place to enforce speed on this very stretch of road, and that they are paying the police officiers overtime to do it. He then sent me on my way with just a warning... After all this the cop told me that the limit was actually 40, and that he thinks I was actually going faster than 60, and told me to be careful driving down this street.

Some cops are really cool

2 Time In One Week

I got pulled over in arlington va. The first time i had just got the car, cop had radar set up behind a bridge, i almost ran him over. speed limit is 45 he clocked me at 65. I told him the car won't do 45 unless i ride the brakes, i told him he can
get in and take it around the corner and see for him self. he smiled but i was serious, he go to motorcycle comes back the a nice fat ticket. let me go for doing
60 in a 45. That was the first time. I work half days on fridays so there i was on that same road with no traffic so i had to punch it, and there he was again i said
dam i'm going to jail this time. He walks up after i pulled over and he just laughed.

Ok this is the second time i have pulled you over. I will give you a break, but don't let there be a third time. I said if you catch me for the third time, i will just give you the key and walk home. So if you see an 06 black acura on Rt.110 going 20 miles an hour That me. And also he mentioned that he love the way the car looks.

This thread has a few good lessons

Since you are required to show any California LE Officer your registration on demand- that means whatever paper you have- temp or regular
Taking the paper off the windshield to make sure the car is not stolen seems reasonable to me...do the vin numbers on the car match the paper?

Pimp your ride out that much and just expect to spend time speaking with the local law- no matter where you are.

Like the old days when "a friend" would put the 9 inch wide racing slicks on the street car to go put a few 100mph heat cycles on them- or just a fun night of canyon running

TOTAL Cop magnet -with the tires sticking 5 inches past the fenders and the car 2 inches off the ground oops

These days- its just cheaper to go do a track day for $250 than speed on the streets

Thats not the same thing. I was complaining that after being pulled over and showing proper Id and proof of insurance i was still harassed and questioned about my temp registration. I am not so much upset that they pulled me over because I understand how my car looks.

Nice demonstration of respect there kid. Thanks for your post. Although not your original intent, this brings a smile to my face because it appears that you got what you deserve. I think the $54 ticket is the least of your issues as bringing that car into compliance (tint-wise) will porbably cost you more.
