got a nick in the windshield

How concerned should I be with a nick the size of a bebe in my windshield? There's no crack but I don't want it to develop into something. Should it be fine or should I have it checked out?
Anyone have any idea on how much it would cost to repair and what to look for when searching for a shop?

if you have full coverage insurance they should fix it for free...just call your local place that does repairs on windshields...a size of a bebe pellet should be for free.

+1. All windshield cracks, if repairable, should be free through insurance. Also, you shouldn't be concerned about a nick/chip that size.

I've been told by my insurance agency that if the crack/chip is smaller than a dollar bill they can fix it and the insurance will cover it. I have USAA btw.

Get it fixed asap. If this runs you will still be out a ton of cabbage WITH insurance. It's not even worth worrying about whether your insurance covers windshield repairs...unless you have a lot of free time on your hands. I guess you could figure it out while waiting for the repair guy...lol.

i wouldnt really worry about it if there's no cracks. Typically for these small things, they fill the chip with some sortof filler, and that prevents any cracks present from spreading.

i brought mine at a body shop on my old car. that was only because i noticed a slight increase in size of the chip overnight. Been a while back but from what i remember, they exposed the chip on some kind of a uv ray and they did somethin else but that actually fixed the chip. it even filled the chip where you see the nick on the windshield but cannot be felt when touched.

Like everyone else has said, your insurance should cover it. If not, Ive been told that the guys who do windshield repair (at your local gas station or car wash) charge about $40 to fix it.

Lately there has been a company doing this in Meijer (Grocery store chain in midwest) I think they put some kind of agent in the ding/crack to prevent in from spreading. I spose it depends on the extent of the damage whether or not its worth getting the windshield replaced or fixed.

Well make sure your insurance even covers windshields. IT's apparently an 'option' coverage with Farmer's. But yeah get it fixed and use Acura glass.

If it's only a bee bee size hole/crack, have it filled. This will prevent cracking or spreading. The filler is transparent and it may even make the hole invisible. But do get it repaired. They won't replace your whole windshield unless the crack is larger than the length of a dollar bill. I've had to do this a couple of times. And once had to replace the windshield all together. OP, not sure where your located but in Florida it's free under ALL insurance companies. It's the law here. I used Safelite. Good luck.

Yes, go with OEM. I think they are double layered to deaden outside noise.
