Got my VIN!

Hey guys/gals,

After reading all these posts about TL owners, it looks like I am finally going to be one. I am picking it up Saturday and it's supposedly straight from the plant. Any way to confirm this? The excitement has finally set in. I'm looking forward to driving it. Anything I should be careful about when I pick it up or break it in? Thanks in advance.

Straight from the plant? It's either that or they dealer traded for it. I would just check to make sure they didn't dealer trade and had someone put a ton of miles on it driving it from who knows where.

As for pick up - drive the thing before you sign off on it to ensure you don't have anything blatantly wrong with your TL - such as the vibration problems.

Also, perform an adequate walk around and inspection - inside and out and look for any dings/scratches/paint problems. Check the interior body panels (b-pillars) for scratches too.

My $.02

Thanks for the tips. I was planning on driving it and also checking it out. Regarding the miles, he said it was placed on a flatbed during transportation, so the number of miles should be low. I made this clear to him before he got one for me. Thanks for the advice though and I would appreciate any more. With regards to driving it back, is there any specific things I should consider? Thanks.

Besides enjoying the ride, I would just not set the cruise and keep it at a static RPM the whole trip back....especially if it's a long one. Some say it's not good on a new cherry engine to run it for miles on end without running it up and down the RPM range by upshifting and downshifting.

I got a Silver Exterior, Quartz Interior, Automatic with the protection package. After reading this form, I had to get the NAVI since I heard many complaints. The fact that I am horrible with directions also contributed to the decision. I supposedly got a good deal and it was over $1,000 off MSRP which is great in the Atlanta area. I called every dealer possible within 400 miles and this was the best deal by far. I am happy with the purchase and plan to keep this car a long time. Now I have to search for a bluetooth phone. I guess I should read the previous posts.
