Got my TL today - WOW
I took a train from Baltimore to Phily and was picked up by the Acura of Turnersville folks. After a couple hours of signing papers, getting explanations, and doing lots of tinkering, I finally started back home with my first Acura (Anthracite/Quartz). My first impressions are that this car is really terrific. The handling was very responsive and there is a good feel of the road. The car was quiet and I didn't have any problems with tire vibration or other rattling sounds. The pickup was super.
Now comes the sound system - the channel selections on the XM radio are great. I spent a lot of time surfing just to see what was available. I need to settle on a few favorites. The quality of the sound wasn't as great as I had hoped, but I need to play with it more. I used the demo DVD-Audio disc to explore the 5.1 sound and found it to be very good. I hope I can find other discs that really take advantage of the capabilities of DVD-A.
Finally, the navigation system was awesome. It got me home without a hitch. It's a really neat piece of technology, and I plan to use it a lot more. The only thing that seemed problematic was the voice control. When I tried to find some location, it seemed to think I wanted the air conditioner turned on. Oh well, there's much more exploring of these features to be done.
Overall, the TL is a magnificent car - it made driving a pleasure again for me. As soon as I got home, I hustled my son into the car for a test ride. He was blown away and said it was the best car he had even ridden. I have to agree.
What can I say? Now I know what all the folks on this forum have been raving about. It's my turn to rave!
