Got my TL, but...
Got my TL, but...
So I finally got my TL after months of searching; an 06 AM with navi (and warranty)
. I'd post pics but its just a stock TL, and you all know how that looks like. Everything in the car seems pretty decent, but there's a major issue that I still need some assistance on.
The dealer which I purchased the car from claimed that the OEM mats, Navi disk, as well as the owner's manual we're switched into another TL (an 07) they were selling and was off the lot that day. So my sales guy tells me to go back at anytime and he'd take care of me.
Now keep in mind these sales people aren't Einsteins on Acuras, so all they do when I get to the dealer is strip the 07 TL and give me the manual, mats (which are a different color), and a 4.56A navi disk which doesn't run on the 06 navi. I tell them that this wouldn't work but all they said was to contact my sales guy (who was absent that day) and see what he'd be willing to do.
I don't feel like these are super major issues, and the sales people were actually pretty nice so it's not a knock on them. I'm just wondering what I should do from this point. Essentially I have everything of the 07 TL "hostage"; if they say just to keep the stuff, I'll probably sell it and get what I need; I've seen used navi disks and OEM mats on sale in the black market. My biggest concern is the radio code within the owners manual. Is there any way I could get the radio code, and is there anything I need from within the manual (IE warranty booklet, etc). I see a little white sticker on my glove box that seems to be the radio code but I don't want to deliberatly unplug my battery to try

. At least I know they're not leaving me dead in the water with nothing. Also, I don't see a radio code inside the armrest, but as I think I mentioned before I see a little white sticker inside the glove box with 5 digits along with a longer code underneath
. I'll give this a try later on. Can anyone confirm this?
By the way, I see you're from San Antonio. I'm a pretty big Spurs fan myself

Thanks for the confirmation. I'll try to see what the dealer is willing to do but I don't HAVE to have the newest disk. I'm sure if I bought the car with the disk it wouldn't have been the lastest one anyway.

Boston coming out blazing hot in the 3rd. Hell of a second quarter though, 38 points.
DudeChewy, I'll get those pics once the rain stops here in Cali. I have one now but its a crappy cell phone pic of the car sitting in the garage.

The XM radio "ID" is easy.
- The "Radio Codes" that you will need to acquire from your Dealer/Acura are the codes to unlock the radio in the event you either have a dead battery or have to disconnect it for some reason etc..Congrats!

Yea, I'm gonna try not to be passive about this but technically they did do their part by "giving me a navi disk and OEM mats". They just happen not to match my car

to answer your questions:
Request them to order your or get you a set of new floor-mats that match your car's interior and that fit (04 mats only fit 04, 05-06 fit only 05-06, 07-08 fit only 07-08).
As well request them that they order or get your the proper manuals, reference guides and leather pouch that they all go into.
Request them to give you the radio and navi unlock code through the ISIS system.
As far as the navi disk, only the 3.xx disks will work. I suggest that you let the dealer get you an updated one version 3.7 or higher, or let them give you the money for a new one and you order it.
Lastly, make sure they give you the key to the wheel locks.
Beware of what they might do, and it's good you kept the 07 items hostage.

The dealer called about 30 mins ago and told me they'd trade the 4.56 disk I have right now for a 3.80 disk that they'll order. I have no idea if they know it costs about $200, but I guess they really want the disk for the 07 back.
I asked if they were willing to do the same with the mats and they told me to keep them
. Worst case scenario, I'll sell the mats and see if I can get the OEM all season mats, which I see on sale in the Black Market pretty often.
The manual, well I'm not too sure about that; as they're a Chevy dealer and not an Acura dealer. I'll read up on the 07 manual for now, hopefully it won't screw me up.

Manuals, etc.
Others have given you good advice about the radio code and floor mats. (I have the all-seasons, and they're great, but if I had it to do over I'd get the WeatherTech floorliners they're talking about in the thread above.) You can order your owner's manual from Helm, Inc. in Detroit:

They're not very expensive. Also at Helm you can order the shop manuals for your year. I had a similar problem getting my owner's manual and did that. When I finally got the manual from the dealer I put it on the shelf next to the shop manuals. It's worth the money to not have to go out in the cold to get the manual out of the glove box when I want to check on something.

Yes, the two little stickers outside (side) of your glove box are the radio/navi codes. You may want to write them down and put them elsewhere in the car for safe keeping. Ya never know when you may get your glove box replaced and forget to keep the stickers. Or some kid will see them and peel them off. LOL Anyway I think you understand where I'm coming from. You can't go wrong getting some sort of all weather mats. I have the OEM one's and they have really saved my carpeting when it comes to beach sand, spills, rain/mud, etc. My original mats are in my attic. Hope you get your new Navi disc soon.
