Talking Got My 2006 Today...thoughts

I finally got my 2006 AT/Nav/Anthr/Quartz today. YYYIIPPPEEE!! :

I have been looking at theses cars since the '04 came out and I have been visiting this forum for as long as I can remember, so I think that I owe it to others that have contributed to give my impressions as the first days/weeks go by....I also have a new 2005 MDX touring edition that I have been driving for the past 5 weeks as well

1) Looks: I still love the looks of the TL. I went with a light interior because I live in the desert and I know of the problems with fade, etc. and thought this might help.

2) Ride: very smooth, tight ride. Turning radius adequate.

3) Interior Finish: I LOVE the interior of this car. I have nothing else to say. I moved the coin box to the drivers door to fit more CD's in the console. Took the family for a ride and had plenty of room even iwth 2 car seats.

4)Audio: Like the DVD audio/XM radio, but a few questions I need to look up on this site regarding some of the features.

5)Nav: I must say that even though the screen is smaller on the MDX, the screen quality is much better than that of the TL. Plus it has the Zagat, etc.

6) Hands Free Link: Linked and worked fine.

7) TPMS: pretty cool. Don't know if it matters that I can tell you the pressure in any given tire at any time, but cool.

More to come tomorrow after a full day of driving....

Welcome

I have an 02 MDX that my wife drives, 23K miles so-far with no problems. My TL is also Quartz; 14K and no compliants.

#7 Yes, you will want to take care of the tires when you see what they cost to replace

Is the TPMS on the TL better than the MDX?

Does it say in the owner's manual, how low the tire pressure has to be to set off the alarm/warning ? We're also intrested in the exact same car (2006 AT/Nav/Anthr/Quartz).

Good Luck.

Zagats is a third party restaurant rating company. The MDX navi gives you this Zagats information when you look up your restaurants telling you the reviews of a given restaurant if it has been rated by them

His Navi has a Zinc Anodized Gold Added Tint Screen - it limits the reflection on sunny days.

Actually Zagats is a restaurant rating company.

BTW always remember Google is your friend!

Congrats!

I have an '04 w/ nearly 40,000 miles and I still love driving that car each and every time I get in it. The interior is still very tight and the quality of the fit and finish has lasted all these miles. Enjoy your new ride.. i love XM and DVD-A and this sound system just rocks. I use Bluetooth ALL the time .. it's nearly flawless for me .. can't say enough about this car other than, the next car I get, if it isn't a TL, then I'll have to pay a boatload more $$$ for a car w/ all these features.

1) The cost for me was 33800 before TTL.

2) The TPMS displays pressure for each individual tire. I can't find in the manual what it copnsiders to be low, but at delivery I had 33 PSI in the front tires and 30 PSI in the rear tires and it said the tire pressure was "OK". The MDX just tells you that you have low pressure and alerts you to which tire (at least on the '05 model)

Other impressions:
-Pretty quick respone, haven't opened it up yet though.
-I learned that SACD and DVD-A are not the same after I bought some music last night at BEst buy on the DVD-A rack.
-It seems that the voice recognition on the voice commands is a little better than the MDX's
-Need to tint the windows, any recs an how dark to go?

More later...

Maybe the pressure has to go down to 25 PSI to set off the warning ? It sounds like a nice feature to have, another reason to get the TL instead of a fully-loaded Accord EX V6.

Don't worry, the Accord will have it in a year or two.. it's going to be federal mandated. So even Civics and Kias will have it.

25 PSI is what the techs are telling me it's set for.

Is it possible to set the PSI threshold in which the warning would go off?

Smile After a few days

The DVD-Audio is awesome, though I learned the hard way that SACD and DVD-A are different and that Best buy doesn't like to take back music that has been opened. The sound is phenomenal.

I was driving to work yesterday and witnessed 3 freakin wrecks! I was like- please don't hit my car!!!! Didn't appear that anyone was hurt too bad so I let myself have a selfish thought...

I am appreciating the car more now as I have had it in town as well as on the highway. Responsive. Clean.

I'm sure my first few tanks of gas will be pretty poor on the MPG the way that I have been driving

I couldn't be happier with my purchase, unless the car came with a supercharger option, but who am i kidding? Do I really need to go 0-60 in under 5 seconds? Maybe if I had a small prick I would care about it, but hell, then I would have gotten a G35 or a BMW.

On the first day I had mine:

On the way home, an box fell out the back of a truck and hit my car. Luckily it was empty and only cardboard.

Driving later that night, a chick on the phone rear ends me. It felt like a little tap and I was afraid I wouldnt enjoy my new car from jail if i got out, so i let it go.

I'm still paranoid about door dings though. I think I need to just take a ball peen hammer and put a dent right in the middle of a door. Just so I can get it out of the way.

Congrats on your new TL. I concur that the 2005 MDX navigation is higher resolution, even though its a smaller screen. And the voice recognition seems to work a lot better than our 04 TL. I very rarely have to repeat instruction. Doesn't matter, cause we enjoy both Acuras. Enjoy your new ride!

Don't worry about door dings. Find a good local "paintless dent repair" person (usually associated with a body shop) and you'll be surprised at what $60 can remove. They just carefully push them out from the inside. You cannot tell anything ever happened. I was amazed at the result of my first (and so far, only) ding removal.

Congrats on your new purchase.......and still one of the best buys around. There are numerous threads regarding DVD-A, just run a search. Topics will range from favorite tracks to favorite discs to recording your own DVD-A and where to buy online. There is also info on DualsDiscs.

True. They do good work. I bought the 5 year free dent removal from Acura. I still park away from others and always do a 360 check before driving off. I learned this from my last car having a hit and run causing me $3,900 in damages and I never saw it for two days when a friend pointed it out. Bastards!

Did you test drive the '05 before getting the '06? If so, I notice that in addition to the TPMS and the new color, the '06 claims to have done something to reduce torque steer. If you have driven both cars, do you notice a difference?

I'm looking to get a TL in the next month or two and am wondering between the '05 and '06. I don't care much about the TPMS or the new color, so just curious about the torque steer that I felt when I drove my friend's '05..

Regards

The torque steer thingy is only on the 6MT's, and what it does is to momentarily cut power if it senses too much torque steer (via the steering angle sensor and VDC). I doubt you'd really want this ...

But you might be surprised about TPMS. It's a really useful thing to have, since you can check your tires without even getting your pinkies dirty. But better yet, it might save your backside from a low-tire-related accident.
