To Good To Be True
To Good To Be True
Ok, all. I was always taught, if something is too good to be true, It usually is.
Came across this on EBAY. Now except for the obvious (crapload of miles) put on this girl, can ANYONE give me ANY reason why this ride (at the buy it now price) is a timebomb waiting to go off?
Thanks.

WOW. Thanks incredible. I almost feeling like checking it out myself, but I won't. If this is legit, I'd put a deposit down to hold it and get a mechanic to do a total car inspection just in case.

go check it out in person... if you look at the seats... they look brand new... weird... 94k mile seats would not look that way
I say check it out and thats a damn good price

I wouldn't say this is too good to be true. That's a lot of miles on a 3 year old tls, so that is why it is selling it for so cheap. As far as condition wise, it looks pretty good. I do see some wore and tear scratches on the driver's seat so this could be legit.

I had a friend that worked for a service company and the equipment couldn't be put on a plane, so he put 60/70,000 miles a year on the vehicle. They were maintained properly and were like new when they were turned in each year.
Private party in good condition is around $19k, so this is a good price, check it out, check Car Fax, then purchase the extended 4 year unlimited mileage warranty for $1595 and you'll be good to go. The car even has the Toyo Versado LX tires that go for about $200 a piece.

Autocheck for the car is clean, only history that it shows is registration renewals over the past few years and that is all.
30K a year is very easy and the car seems to be in good shape, you CAN do high miles and still have a pristine condition interior/exterior, case in point my old 00 TL with 257k miles -----> https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...21&postcount=2

Called the cell phone number, went straight to voice mail. (I have no interest in the car. If it was a 6MT,it would be a different story. That is one beautiful car!!).
They've sold many cars, this would appear to be the most expensive they've sold in the last 90 days.
Review the feedback. The only negative feedback the last year is a claim that the "no cost money back guarantee" costs $500. You might want to ask Chris about that. It also says "a deductible of costs applies to claims". Not sure what that means.
Another feedback says that the company forced the buyer to give positive feedback before they would honor the money back guarantee.
Note also that it says the money back guarantee only applies if the car is paid for in accordance with auction terms, so be sure you comply with that.

Thanks for all the responses guys...
JNC, thanks for the Autocheck.
Although, I'm slowly getting there, I don't think I'm financially able to pull the trigger on this quite yet. If anyone else is interested, please feel free to get it.
Originally, I was looking at purchasing an '06 w/ Navi for around 16K (max).

I wouldn't spend that much money on a car with that many miles, but that is just me.
Also note, it's due for major serivce at 105k miles. Will cost anywhere from $1k to $1,300 for the timing belt, water pump, plugs, etc. Check the front brakes to, they cost a fortune to replace on a TL-S. Even if you do it yourself, the OE front pads are $150 wholesale, will be $200+ for just the pads if you buy them at the dealer.

not too shocked at the price for the mileage. I've seen people on here get tl-s' for mid to low 20's with half the miles.
It does look like its in phenominal conditon for the miles though. My dad is a medical salesman and he does about 30k/ year. His car shows little wear and is in like-new condition after 60k. go check it out and have a mechanic look at it. carfax as well.

I guess that's why I've always loved the WDP/camel colour combo.
don't get me wrong, I really want to go check out this car and I would love it. (after it's looked after), I just got outta school though and although I want a TL, I've set a limit that I can't keep increasing... (Slippery slope)
High miles is always a gamble. Maybe you luck out and the owner took great care and you get a steal. Or maybe you have to put more money into it sooner because of the abuse. You just gotta figure out if you think it's worth getting a sweet ride (make no mistake, it is bad ass) for way less than average price. It's the whole reason I buy used cars instead. Just to a much lesser degree. You get a used car for less money based on how used it really is. The key is to find the one that is least used for the least money. Like a couple other people pointed out the prices they paid. I got my 07 with 24k on it for 24 grand. It was the cheapest/nicest one with the lowest miles. I would recommend you do the same.

Might wanna try checking out the cars history. If you consider buying. It's got a lot of miles though.
