Good thing I haven't installed a CAI yet!

If there was ever an opportunity to hydro-lock it most likely would have been today, this is what the roads were like in south jersey today on my way home at 5pm. Good thing I've still got the stock airbox in

Damn!

Even though I don't have a CAI, I wouldn't drive in that much water.

That's me just being paranoid though.

Luckily this is a pic a friend texted me, this stretch of road was flooded more than the short puddle (or small lake lol) I went through. But yeah it was a little nerve racking haha, but having come from an suv that I took off road every once in a while I know that if you keep a constant speed (not stupid fast) you can get a bow wave going behind the front tires which can keep engine components and everything from getting wet. I do not want to drive through that much water in my TL ever again though lol.

I would have like to of pulled over but I made a blind left turn and as soon as I was around the corner I was in water... If I would have pulled over I would have just been sitting in standing water. Luckily it was only about 175 yards or so, just drove through at a steady 10-15mph and before I knew it I was on dry pavement again.

even with a CAI that puddle (though i'd be nervous too) isn't that bad. the time you have to worry is when the water is up and over the level of the front bumper....so if you're lowered....that could be bad.

i drove through a 4-5 inch puddle before and i have a CAI but on stock suspension at the time...i just drove REALLY slow. its the 7+ inchers you have to worry about or the mass river flowing down the street.

^^ Have to agree, I've drove in worst than that with a CAI, but not lowered. I think you would have been okay in that puddle.

The water is barely up to the rims on the cars. Even if you had a CAI it would sit another 4-5 inches up, this puddle is not big deal. Plus you can always drive in someone's wake to push the water away. That is what I do in a situation like that.

Ya as long as you drive at a constant speed around 15mph or so you can get a bow wave going which lowers the water level behind your front wheels, check out this link and scroll down a bit, it explains it pretty well. Learned this back when I took my Ford Exploder offroad occasionally

I live in Marlton but I work in Burlington off rt 130. The flooded road I drove down was right off 130 south where you can turn left onto the 541 truck bypass route

Yeh....same here. UNFORTUNATELY I didn't know about the pothole within the puddle. Front wheel went right down into the puddle and water went right into the engine. CLs stalled right out. The car was fine. No major damage but I try to avoid flooded roads if possible.

i put on a filter wrap from AEM that supposedly waterproofs the filter from puddles and such, excluding full submersion. No hydro locking yet

thats no more then 2 or 3 inches of water we see that down here on a weekly basis sometimes daily in the summer. you would be fine with a CAI in that even being lowered.
