I picked up the Lips yesterday and really like it!
They did an experimental thing a couple of years ago (I don't recall the name of it), where they released one "album" on four different discs that were meant to be played simultaneously on 4 different boom boxes at the same time. How cool would that be mixed in 5.1?

I bought a few discs and will be taking some of your recommenations for Blue Man Group (if I can find it), Missy Elliot and The Flaming Lips.
I have:
Metallica - sounds is very clear/crisp, but doesn't really have much 5.1 that I noticed. Not sure it is worth buying if you have the CD, though I haven't A/B'ed them
Stone Temple Pilots - Core - similar sound quality to Metallica. Still love this album so I'm not disappointed
R.E.M. - Automatic for the People - Sounds good with some cool 5.1 stuff.
R.E.M. - Reveal - Haven't listened to it yet
Beck - Sea Change - Incredible sound quality with good use of 5.1 (good meaning well done, not over done), though I'm not sure I actually like the album itself

However, get somebody else's input on whether it plays well in the TL or not.
*counts days till FORD lease is over*
Isn't Blue Man Group a flipper? (My copy is out in my car in the parking lot - will check it later when I head home). My recollection is that this is the one disk I have that is two sided. One side is DVD-A.
When I put the right side in, nice surround sound comes out of the speakers - sweeping in obvious 3D effects. I would say it does work in our cars.
I have never tried to put it in the other way and see if it spits out or not.

Also, the Queensryche stuff is awesome if you like their style.

Where did you find the Queensryche stuff? I have only found some Metallica
but would love some Ryche.
DVDplanet actually my local used cd store sells all there titles for 10 bucks the guy behind the counter asked me what the difference is so I guess they just dont care.. picked up the metalica and the stone temple and they have some nice effects nothing mind blowing. But im definately going to be looking into the blue man group
I recently bought the 3 Doors Down DVD-A and I have to crank up the volume pretty high to even be able to hear the disc. I was wondering if this was just a problem with the sampling on the 3 Doors Down album, or is this something that is done by the audio system?
Blue Man Group is a flipper. The DVD-A side works fine, the only thing is (mine at least) is labelled "DVD-A" on the side that is DVD-A, so you have to put that side down instead of up like you would expect.

I happened into Best Buy on Sunday, looking for a couple of new releases, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John and Tommy, the Who. Found 'em both. They are both so good that they blew me away. Do not want to leave the TL!!

Both Waterloo Records and Best Buy in Austin have these DVD-A's. I bought the Tribe album - I thought the 5.1 mix was very well done. Good luck!

GBYBR came out in SACD some time ago. It just arrived in stores in DVD-A. In fact, I pulled it and Tommy from a Best Buy cart that was that was used for stocking. The only reason I saw them was because they were in bigger cases than regular CDs. Check out the following link for upcoming releases, including Roam by the B-52s. If only they would issue Dark Side of the Moon on DVD-A...

On a related note, this same sight reports that DVD-As are outselling SACDs 5:1, which is good news for TL owners:
