Good Acura Shop in Atlanta?

Hey guys,

I just took my car in for the recall service and was trying to get the HFL module goodwilled. They called me back and told me that basically they'll goodwill the HFL if I get the 45k service + tranny flush + drive train flush there.
Total Cost:
45K $430.80
Tanny Flush $251
Drivetrain Flush $196

Total: ~$877

I looked up these services and it seems like the check up is very bogus since it's mostly inspection and doesn't actually involved anything performed (other than the fluid changes which I'm getting charged extra for here) and flushing the tranny and engine I read a lot of negative articles about online not only their effectiveness but also how they could damage your tranny and engine.

Do the prices for those services seems inline with what you guys know? Should I get those services? Any recommendations as to a good Acura shop here in the ATL?

Thanks in advance!

Where did you take your car to get this quote? Seems like they want something for something. Go to Ed Voyles Acura on Chamblee-Tucker Road. They're the only dealership I trust with my car.

That sucks that they won't good-will the HFL thing as it only requires a new module being put into it. Shouldn't take a tech that long to replace it.

Ok cool - I took it to Carland... What really sucks about the HFL is my VIN is within the range specified in the TSB for HFL issues...
Will take it to Ed's - I called to get a quote and they were cheaper.

Thanks!

In the future OPM Motorsports is a great shop. They do excellent quality factory services on all hondas and acuras, and at a much cheaper price. The only downside is they are up in Cumming (about 1 hr north of downtown). They also do performance work. They've been in business atleast 20 yrs.

Wow and they did it for free? If you don't mind all the questions - did you get your car with them?

What is the PS recall?
Powersteering - the hose could age/break prematurely due to high temps (which we seem to get a lot here in the ATL LOL)

Nope! I actually still had the 30 day car tag on my car from the dealer i bought it from! LOL. They guys at that service shop are just really down to earth and cool. Now, how do i know if my car is in the category to have the recall done? I would like to have it fixed if it will be a problem for me....

LOL, I have the 30 day plate on mine too (maybe Carland didn't like it?)

To find out if you need the recall done:
1) Sign up at the Acura owners site (registration requires your VIN and email) and go under maintenance -> recall

OR

2) call Ed's guys and have them check your VIN to see if you have outstanding recall work needed

Thanks everyone for your inputs, this is why I love this forum! - I talked Carland down to goodwilling the HFL with just doing the 45K check up which will cost $430 but oh well, live and learn

Will take my care to Ed's in the future.

Ed Voyles for the win! Jimmy Harris is the sort of worker all Acura dealerships should have.

just picked up the TL from Jackson. i took it in for the PS recall. i didn't get a wiper motor recall (either via mail or on the acura owner's link site under recalls) but they went ahead and replaced the wiper motor as well! pretty good experience overall.

Ed Voyles the SM is Tom Houze, he sued to be at Acura Carland, he is awesome guy, took real good care of my 04 year 1 rattle trap and even good willed me a deck lid spoiler for my grief. All the good folks left Carland becasue the ownership is ruining the place. Their SM and good techs have long since left.

UPDATE:

CARLAND OFFICIALLY IS OFF MY LIST OF EVER GOING THERE.

So I went to pick up my car today after the 45K check up, recall service, and HFL fixes. What is waiting there for me? The horror of seeing my rear side skirts on the driver side dented and heavily scratched, along with a giant scratch on my driver side rear door and rear wheel well. They did acknowledge that this happened while the car was in their possession and will take care of it tomorrow when the SM gets in and claims that it happened at their "outsource detailer" when my car got detailed.

I was just in shock and awe that something like this happened my poor car won't be back for another few days and I'll post the final resolution here later.

Thanks.

I bought my TL-S from Jackson and they did a great job at sale and and even better job at service. They completed the 3rd gear TSB flawlessly and have had very reasonable prices on regular service. Jackson is the newest Acura dealer in ATL and they have a lot to prove...they are trying very hard and being successful in my mind.

I bought my previous TL from Nalley and will never go back. The sales experience sucked and their service dept. is condescending, poorly trained and a rip off compared to Ed Voyles or Jackson.

My previous (Nalley-purchased) TL was serviced at Ed Voyles. They did a good job...no real complaints...but I still think Jackson is better.
