Going Crazy! Can't find front lip spoiler for TL Type S

Hey, first post here so bear with me. I found out today that the A Spec Front Lip Spoiler for my 2007 TL S Type has been discontinued. Not all of them have, only MY color! I needed Alabaster Silver. I talked to a dealer and he said Acura is sold out on that color.

So, I looked for some custom ones instead, and the only thing I'm able to come up with is the Sarona spoiler. Custom Acura TL 2007 Front Add-on Lip - Sarona

More expensive and not painted. Also I read some bad stuff about their "fit".

Any suggestions? The only other thing I can come up with is to buy a White Pearl OEM one and have it stripped and painted. Again, MORE money! Sucks.

Your thoughts?

^thats the only way we've been doing it...Most colors are getting discontinued as the years pass by.....

we've been buying a different color and painting it.
and the term, "you have to pay to play" comes to mind. that is if you want the aspec lip, you'll have to pay a little more to get it custom colored.

Thanks for the quick response! Tell me about it....my dealer wanted $122.23 for the front bumper license plate plugs. I love my TL but am starting to hate Acura.

Yeah, really high in demand, especially in New Jersey where front license plates are required. Bunch of a-holes!

^lol, its all over the country.
I'm in Houston and the bumper plugs were some outrageous price too.

some people had luck with a circular patch from Home Depot that cost less than a dollar

Welcome!

Two things...

1) Moving this to the TL forum since most people in Car Talk do not own Acuras
2) As far as bumper plugs... www.bumperplugs.com . Purchased a few from them for different cars and all have been excellent quality for only ~$30. I've also gone to Lowes (or Home Depot) and purchased black plastic plugs from the hardware section, painted them with touch-up paint, and they look great. That will cost you even less!

Thanks for the welcome! I've been a stalker for a while. LOL I'm on my 3rd Acura, had a 2005, then a 2006 with the A-spec, that got totaled (while parked) less than 2 months after I bought it. Now I've had this 2007 TL Type S and I love it but the lady that owned it before me lived in NJ where they require front license plates. I live in PA where they don't.

I've seen te bumpler plugs.com site posted here, but I'm a cheap ass. I hate spending 30 bucks on something that should cost 50 cents. I'll check out Home Depot, been meaning to do that.

Again, thanks for the welcome!

Not sure if you can tell, but the smaller plugs on the bumper below were the Lowes plugs with touch-up paint/clear coat. The larger plugs are the bumper plugs. Honestly once you factor in the price of touch-up paint and clear coat, the pricing wasn't that different and in the end they both matched exactly (color-wise). What I like better about going to Lowes was I could buy smaller sizes than the bumper plugs...

And to make matters worse, I ordered the front lip spoiler today from "oempartsandaccessories.com" because they indicated they had silver in stock. No phone number on the website to confirm. So I placed the order and got a confirmation email telling me the part was coming from an acura dealer in TX. I called the dealer only to find out they didn't have any. Now "oempartsandaccessories.com" has $300.00 of my money and I have to wait "up to 5 business days" for them to return it, only because THEY didn't keep their website updated. That's why my post title say's "going crazy"!

It looks great! I wouldn't mind having some extra touch up paint anyway. You never know when you might need it.

Don't believe the "age" thing, I logged in with Facebook and although I was dumb enough to throw $300 into the wind today, I'm not stupid enough to put my real birthdate (or name for that matter) on facebook. LOL One step ahead of ya!

Im in the same boat for a spoiler but cant seem to locate one.

A guy on craigslist try to sell me the small tl spoiler and pass it like a TLS one but i wasnt so easily fooled.

I gone as far as contacting sellers from other states but never really sent and $ cause fraud and people being jacked online is always a thing..

I would love an aspec kit! But the price and availability isn't worth it to me.

And yep, I have the alabaster silver metallic color

Aren't there any laws pertaining to how long a manufacturer must continue to make oem parts for a car?

10 years and this car is 12 years old.
Discontinued means discontinued!!!!!!!! lol

and I think that law ONLY pertains to certain aspects, NOT accessory lip kits....
but doesnt matter because the meaning of Discontinued means they are not making them any more. LOL

i'm surprised the kits actually lasted this long without running out.

OP, all colors except black and white do not have full kits available. they are sold out and not being made any more. some colors you can't find any pieces of the kit. the only route available is to call a local dealer and have them do a nationwide search for it, or just buy another color and paint it. it costs a lot more but up to you if it matters that much to you or not.

i think the kit is worth it if available but i wouldn't have bought mine if i had to paint it also....too much money for me.

Never was. I just got bored and wanted to sell my parts that were never installed. Didn't want to buy the clutch but f it. Cant stand the OEM clutch. Only thing I might do is the flash pro and ecu swap and I am done. I got a new project coming up once the car arrives

I would buy the kit and paint it yourself. It's not really hard at all but it comes down to how bad you really want it.
