Glare repair despair!

I'm sure that many (if not all) of you have noticed the haunting red glare that mysteriously appears in the rear window every time you hit the brake pedal.

Has anyone had this fixed at a dealership? My dealership replied that ther isn't any adjustment that would allow the bulb casing to move closer to the window.

i was wondering... could you put the
1/4 inch foam insulation tape

http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82055

from that thread... around the edges of the brake light assembly (when you have it off) and then snap it back on? it wouldnt look weird because you can't see it from the outside- its where the dot matrix is.

anyway, if anyone decides to try this, get back to us.

Your brake light cover must be off/loose. Take it to another dealer if you have to - there should be zero glare - I certainly don't have any in mine, nor any of the demos I've driven.

Hmm ... that's interesting. The dealer said that all the 04TLs on their lot have the same gap between the third brake light cover and the rear window.

Not true. Go to any dealer and play with their cars. Have someone step on the brakes while you sit in the back.

Let's just say that the only way I know my third brake light is working is when someone is stopped behind me and I see the red light on their faces. That's the only glare I see - on their windshield!

One of the cars I demoed when I first shopping the TL last year had the loose brake cover so I noticed the same problem. When I went back for another test drive a few weeks later, it was fixed.

My TL do not glare when brakes are hit. There must be gap in you cover. As said, take it to a dealer.

I glare. Also tinted. Never had the car without tint, so I'm not placing blame on the tint....

Checked mine out a minute ago. NO GLARE or RED showing on mine. Dealer can adjust it I am sure.

I couldn't remove my high-mount light's cover without using a lot of force.

Would it make sense for me to try using some double-sided sticky tape on the rubber part, perhaps?
