Ghetto'd Out 300c Hemi vs. TL-S

So there is this "pimped" 300c Hemi at my college. It has 20 inch "dubs" and a powerful sound system. Now, considering that weight of the vehicle and the added weight from its pimping. Do you think my stock 2002 TL-S could take him?

Race him From the Dig....... Those cars will take time to takeoff. ive raced 1 hemi charger and took him all the way 3 cars behind me. and Yeah, Race safely. You will be able to win, No problem... Just make sure that race is not long.

you will lose. thoise cars take off very strong. DO NOT RACE FROM A DIG! Its a 5.7L v8 with 365lb tq. you will get murdered off the line. those cars run 0-60 in 5.7 secs and low 14 1/4's. they are no joke. lostkhan if you raced a charger and beat it it was a V6 for sure, a V8 would beat you pretty easily.

A Dodge Charger with a HEMI package has 340hp, Daytona edition has 350hp while the SRT-8 has 425hp.
Either way, the Dodge Charger (HEMI packaged) will smoke the shit out of your stock TL-S. lostkhan raced a V6 wannabe HEMI or he was dreaming he beat a HEMI.

Hmm.... it said Hemi on the rightside of the Fender of his CHarger. Or maybe he put the emblem of Hemi on. Wat a shame for Charger. lol

No, the Hemi will not SMOKE a TL-S. All statistics have shown that the car has never run faster than a mid 14s 1/4s or faster than a 5.9 60-dash. No one really knows why they're so slow. I'd guess drivetrain issues. But I had no problem whatsoever torching a hemi charger in my modded TL-S. and its not THAT modded

Did a little research. Looks like I was wrong. Motor trend got the 300c to do a 14.27 quarter and a 5.8 0-60. So, it'd walk a TL-S. I guess the guy I was going against decided that I wasnt worth finding second gear for, and it cost him. His rims and his system will cost him though. It could be your ticket

I said 365lb tq not 365HP. it has 340hp BTW and I have seen 5.7 0-60 times. for a heavy ass car that is pretty good. the charger is not much different than the 300C really, same platform, same engine, close to the same weight and times are very similiar. the srt-8 versions are monsters.

Yeah, I test drove a Black SRT-8 Charger and my SRT-4 will do a 13.6 in the quarter and it felt slow compared to the Charger (that was stock). Over on the srtforums.com some are running 13.1 stock and the very few that are modded are deep in the 12's. So...the name "monster" fits them well..

If you look around there are a couple out there with superchargers..and their only competition would have to be pullied Cobras.

You will lose - my friend's Magnum RT (with the 340hp hemi) ran 14.4 at 98 and it is about 2 to 3 tenths slower than the 300C or Charger (weight).

A good friend of mine has the 300c and he has 22's on it. From a dig it takes off good for such a heavy car and it has plenty of torque to push it along. I'd say you will lose by a car or so. Make sure his 300 is stock also. With just an air intake and a chip, they will fly as i have felt this as well.

I am going to say you have a chance depending how heavy his 20's are and how heavy his system is. You may be able to take him. People you have to remember this isn't an off the lot 300c, it has a fair amount of weight ADDED to it. IMO Give it a shot, see what happens

Yea but did he have ridiculously huge 22' chrome rims and a HEAVY system while he was doing that quarter mile? I dont care how powerful your engine is....with all that heavy crap you will be slower than stock. Yea he may beat you, but if a stock 300c is hanging around and decides he wants to join in on the fun then he'll blow the both of you away LOL!

Actually, the 300C has 390 ft-lbs of torque. Definitely helps with getting that 4,000+ lbs curb weight off the line.

I think the OP will lose, based on the way the car felt when I drove my father-in-law's 300C a few months back. And he has 20" chromies on it.

From the Chrysler website...just to clear up all the different numbers that are being thrown around.
"This engine generates up to 340 horsepower at 5,000 RPM, and 390 pounds-feet of torque at 4,000 RPM."
