Getting a used TL

After alot of lookin at cars Ive decided on one. Its a 2004 acura TL-navi 37,300 miles, off lease cpo asking $26,500 sale price $26,000, My price $25,000. The only reason I got the car that much less than the asking price is because its my parents 3th acura and 5th car bought from that dealer with the same salesmen, so they took care of the price well. I should be picking it up this weekend.

Yeah, you're overpaying. $23,000 would be more reasonable.

Gotta agree. I just picked up my 1-owner 04 TL 6/MT (no NAVI), anthracite, black leather, 37K miles, 14 mos remaining on factory warranty, not a scratch, dent or ding anywhere on it for $21K. See if you can do a little more negotiation - 23K would be a good price.

I thought it was a good deal since all the others 04-06 used Tl's at the dealer are listed for $28+ with 30k miles. They had a 2005 TL-no navi 28,000 miles listed for $28,600, the sale price of $27,500 and it sold within a week of when I was looking at the cars there. I will see what I can do on the price. Thanks

How much were your parent's acura.. I think your dealership might be on the expensive side.

Not trying to sound like a broken record but I also belive your over paying. I just bought an 04 Navi 5AT with 27,500 miles for $23,000, about a week ago, I'm still waiting on the plates.

Not that the car isn't worth that much money according to the KBB, I do believe that with 40,000 miles (I know you have less) the retail value is around $25K.

Your not getting robbed but you could probably have gotten a better price.

Aside from that congrats on getting it in any case, it's a great car and this forum is great for newbies such as ourselves. Spend a good hour going through threads and you'll feel like an expert.

HI all. I am too looking for something similar. 2004, Navi, <30k miles and hoping to pay 22-23. It would be helpful if you guys state where you live and from whom you bought your cars. Are you getting them at Acura Dealers or from Private indivduals? Are they Certified Acuras with the longer warranty?

I am in Southern California, and check the websites of dealers, and they list the cars at between 26 and 31k for cars that I want. I emailed a bunch with offers and pretty much none respond. I guess I will have to go in and have to haggle.

I did get a local dealer here to go $24k for a 2005 non-nav with 28k miles. But it had some scratches I was not happy with, and no nav, and I wanted to spend less.

Jeff

hi Jeff... im in NJ... but with the redesign of the new 07TL, you should be able to negotiate a little better price for the car you are looking at... even if you are buying a TL 1 or 2 years old from the dealer or private owner, you still have the factory warranty until 50k miles... you can opt to buy your own extended warranty... but it depends on the type of deal u r looking for... if you can find a clean car for sale by owner and it is a few grand less than the dealership, just use the money you save to get an extended 100k miles warranty...

Thanks. Another thing that would be helpful is if the original asking price was included to give buyers a better idea of how much the sellers are willing to do down in price.

Hi. I finally got one. I found an 04, Nav, 17k miles for $24k, so decent deals can be had. - Jeff
