Getting different tires at sale time
Getting different tires at sale time
I have a question for those of you who seem to have picked up your car with different tires.
How did you handle that in negotiation? Suppose I want the car delivered with Michelin Pilot A/S tires - do they give you a trade in value on the stock tires? I would think that this would be an area where the dealer could really hammer you.
I have searched the posts and seen that quite a few of you have done this, but I did not see one where anyone tells us how it was done.
THANKS

My local tire dealer is swapping my EL42's for Yoko ES100's in 255/40/17 & is charging me $95. I have 1,800 miles on my car. The yoko's look and handle much better plus being wider & lower profile should be a nice combo. They should also protect the rims some.
You just have to work it out with the dealer. It is between you and him what you come up with in the way of trade-in allowance or credit and how much extra for whatever tire you choose. Some dealers will do it and others won't so when you pick a dealer ask him what his policy is, and if you don't like it maybe check with other dealers.
