Getting Deployed.

Well, I'll be leaving for Afganland here soon, and I was wondering if you guys could somewhat help me out on some things. I'm going to be coming back with a shiny penny, and was hoping you guys could help me out with some modding choices. Basically what to look for, or what products match up to what. I'll be doing a lot of research on anything you guys give me, and most likely if I made a decision ill be making the purchase while I am over there. *just pick it all up when I get back state-side* Now I have a 04 TL baseline A/T, NHBP. I'll have roughly 7k or so to mess around with. Anyone have and good inputs, tips/tricks for me? I appreciate any input!

Thanks guys!

I appreciate it a lot, I've been to Iraq back in 09. It wasn't anything special, but the story's some of our units came back with from Afganland, still a little nervous.

But thank you again.

Drewman, thank you for your service to this great country !

With 7K, you can do quite a bit, you just need to decide wether you want it for some show or want it for some go!

My top mod's for the TL would be:
1. A-Spec Body Kit - 799
2. J-Pipe - 350-500 depending on which one
3. Sway-Bars - 125
4. Cat-Back Exhaust - 500-2000 depending which route you choose
5. Cold Air Intake - 300
6. Upgraded suspension - 200-2000 depending which route you choose
7. Weight Reduction - Can be free for the most part!
8. Pre-Cat deletes - 300?
9. Brake Upgrades - 100 to 2000 depending on which route you choose
10. Maintanence! Having a healthy car is better than having one that's running on it's last leg! Be sure everything is up to date!

Thank you for your service! My brother is on his 3rd deployment now and he served his first in Afghanistan.

As far as mods, I agree with Csmeance's list completely. I would also look into getting the windows tinted if that is to your liking.

As far as mods go, csmeance has a pretty good list. Something I might add to it would be rims and window tint.

I would save the money.. but if you feel that you need to spend it all on the TL, I'd have to go with Kam.. Turbo.

Thank you for your service sir!

When you come back, suspension and A-Spec kit should be at the top of your list. From there it's limitless.

to all of the above. Csmeance's mod list was a good one....or a turbo kit would be awesome. Thank you for your service. I just got my father back from Baghdad. He's State Department but it still wore on me every single day of the 3 years he was over there.

Good luck man!

My cousin is a marine. He had a tour over in Iraq last year too and is being deployed to Afghanistan soon as well on a carrier. Granted he is not front lines but its still hard to think about. He is actually a mechanic for F-14's I believe it is. He works on the GPS / navigations.....wish I could put one of them suckers in my TL lol.

Anyways as others said worry about staying safe most importantly.

Just to add to the list, Accord fogs look pretty sick with the A-Spec lip. I myself am looking to do this.

Thanks everyone for the warm heartedness, thanks csmeance for the list, il will be looking deep into this. Also for saving the money? eh its basically there for the using, kinda free, but i see what you're getting at.

Thanks again everyone, and also i dunno about the turbo idea. Buddy from work said ill be better off with a 100 shot of juice*if that*, he said wont be as much wear-an-tear on my motor.

EDIT: Also I already have tint, just need to get it fixed though :|. someone tried to unlock the driver door with a coat hanger, ripped the tint all apart.

"JUICE" will cost you the price of the turbo over about a year if you use it regularly and will also blow up your motor in about 30 hard runs if not ran properly, if that. There are many members that have used this and it wasn't a pretty picture. TURBO with the right mods or S/C with the right mod would be your best bet. You can get a TURBO with the right mods for around 9-10k and S/C would be around 5-6k, both being reliable with each of there ups and downs.

Also, be safe.

I don't want to make this a debate since this is you mod/going away thread. Just had to say it's the opposite of what your friend said. For a given power level, the turbo is much gentler on parts.

Drew, thanks for serving. Have fun and blow up some cool shit for us!

IHC, my dad works for the state dept. as well. Just came back from Nigeria recently. He said it was pretty dangerous, and had to discharge his weapon several times a day.

Good luck over there and thanks for serving!

As for mods it depends if you wanna make it look good or make it fast.

Aspec kit for sure and get a type-s rear under spoiler so you can do quad exhaust.

How could I forget the turbo kit :slap: The Turbo kit is pretty awesome and by the time you return it should be perfected! Once again have a safe trip!

TO other, if you have something productive to add please do. This isn't about name calling or calling war stupid. The OP is sacrificing his time and energy for our freedom, the least you can do is respect him.
