Getting breaks changed at the dealer?

Ok, so I've been searching, reading, and inquiring about changing the brakes and rotors for a 05 TL Base.. Only bc my uncle who usually changes my brakes is busy and I'm in serious need of new brakes (I get a real bad vibration when braking at all speeds but more so above 50mph), I called the dealer for pricing, and they quotes $325+tax to change the front brakes and rotors, and $225+tax for the rears.. honestly I was expecting more even tho I still think it's expensive.. So I've be looking for something comparable and better than OEM at a reasonable price. I basically do all highway driving here in Jersey and I dont need it for performance.. I checked some sites recommended here but there are just tooo many to choose from and I have no idea which fit what I'm looking for without breaking the bank. No pun intended. My budget for everything is around $300-$350. If I can get it all for this price, I'll just have to wait for my uncle to have some free time. If anyone can recommend a shop here in Central Jersey than I'd be willing to go there too. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks!

Better check on the Acura price as the front rotors and pads list $285 and rears $253.
45022-SEP-A01 ACURA TL FR. PAD SET 2005 TL 54.77 41.08 Qty:
45251-TA6-A00 ACURA TL FR. BRAKE DISK 2005 TL 114.87
43022-SEP-A00 ACURA TL RR. PAD SET 2005 TL 61.74 46.31
42510-SEP-A00 ACURA TL RR. BRAKE DRUM IN DISK 2005 TL 95.77 71.83

Actually, the OEM pads are pretty good compared to some aftermarket units. You'll be hard pressed to find rotors/pads front and rear installed for $300-350.
Never used the following, but the price isn't bad:
Raybestos OE ceramic pads $38
Raybestos front and rear rotors $215
$253 plus shipping from Rock Auto.

Whoa! You can go performance for that amount. I paid 525 for my whole set.

All it really takes is a descent socket/ratchet set. You order the parts, install yourself, and save some cash. It's easy enough that I learned after one time of watching someone do it.

My work, tah dah!

Otherwise, shop around. That's too much. (Intended for the OP)

So, do ya think it's a good deal getting it done at the dealer?

If you dont know a local private owned small shop that works on honda and acura as a regular thing- then you have to pay the extra labor rate and parts markup at the dealer
Check for a 10% off coupon on their website or in the phone book coupons section

Make an appointment in advance- ask for a loaner car- midweek is good for getting one

With shake on braking it will probably need the rotors resurfaced- assuming they are not gouged or heavily warped which means replacement
You were probably quoted with resurfacing the rotors-
make sure exactly what they are including, and what extras like shop rags and caliper grease are added on the bill

be careful with those prices!!! Those are most likely to cut/turn the rotors so the rotor is even. The problem with this is the rotor is thinner now and it will warp again even faster! Your front brakes are most likely the suspect ones that are causing the warping. If you are on a tight budget, this is your best plan of action:

New OEM rotors for front
New Front pads
Leave the rears alone, check for pad wear and guess at how many miles are left. If you need a half worn set of brakes, front and rear, I can ship you my old pads since they are sitting here collecting dust.

I called and they (receptionist) told me its replace rotors and brakes. I may just have to go in personally and double check.

Has anyone bought OEM parts from ebay? What should does go for?

Thanks

talk to the service advisor and not the receptionist since many of them do not know the correct pricing for stuff. Don't go to ebay, call up tim@ hondaacuraworld.com and ask what he can do.

Went the dealer in person, and the $325 quote included resurfacing the rotors. Replacing the rotors bumps up over $500. since I was there, I got the price for the Front pads and rotors. $75 for the pad, $115 each rotor.

So I ended up getting a quote from this local shop which is usually good with their prices. They quoted me $337 w/taxes for brakes and rotors. They actually said the rears were still in good shape and dont need to be changed at all. I didn't get the brands but he did say these were a OE Premier level brake dust reducing pads, and better quality rotors that run cooler.. Not an exact quote obviously but it doesn't sound like a bad deal. What ya think?

I checked acuraoemparts.com, and they're asking roughly $240 for parts only.

dust reducing= ceramic pads- thats fine as long as you know it wont brake as fast and hard as it does now
Cooler rotors? must mean they are slotted or have curved inner coolingvanes
Getting exact part names is a good plan

Tip: Wash the wheels inside and out, dry and wax with 3 coats synthetic car wax
Brake dust will slide of- well most of it,,, and not be there to make more adhere to itself

OK, Looks like my uncle can change them this upcoming weekend so I'll just buy the parts. $240 is what I can get OEM from Findlay Acura so I'll make my limit $250.. So should I just go with OEM or aftermarket? Pls recommend any combinations and where to get them. Thanks!
