I want to get a third spare key for my sister in case she needs to drive it. I want to know how much usually the spare key cost and how long does it take to order one from the dealership.

 

depends on what year ur tl is ... the keys pre06 are cheaper and should run you around 100 to 150 bucks. you can get it cheaper if you buy the key off of ebay and just take it to the dealer to be programmed. if you have a switch blade key which is post 07 ... then it will be more, not sure how much though ... i'm sure someone will chime in

 

If you have a 2004-2006 TL, you can take this opportunity to have a switchblade key done for your car! Mr. Heeltoe (heeltoeautomotive) sells them for a great price. It'll be around 100 for the key, and then 25-150 dollars to program the immobilzer chip inside the key depending on where you go. When you do go, make sure to take ALL car keys with you.

If you don't want to spend as much, and just want a key and remote, you can go to any locksmith and have one made for under 100 dollars, and you can buy the remote from ebay from 10-45 dollars!

FYI you can have 4 keys and 3 remotes programmed to the car's memory.

 

You should have received a valet key (gray plastic head) along with the two keys/fobs-- give your sister the valet key.

If you did not get the valet key and got the car as an Acura CPO, see if the dealership still has the valet key or if it will give you one. Otherwise, check to see if the previous owner still has the valet key.
