No. 3G may be based on the Accord but has no similar driving characteristics what-so-ever outside of being FWD.

4G drives like a faster Accord. Body roll, not as nice suspension, tiny motor, throttle delay. I can't really describe it better than that. Just go drive one and put it through the ringer and you'll see what I mean.

Also, I think the new TL reminds me of the Accord too because of the driver position. Low dash board is very much like Accord, whereas the 3G TL has the high dash.

Not that there is anything wrong with the new TL, I just think they really changed the demographic that will find the car enjoyable.

I wouldn't even consider the 4G because of its absolutely horrible styling. Ugliest car on the market.

Guys, the 4G has only 22 hp more than the 3G. 280 vs 258. And it weighs a lot more. So it's actually slower in a straight line. Most tests I've seen say a 14.9 quarter mile. Whereas a base auto 3G runs a 14.7.

The 4G does have a lot more torque though so it should feel faster in normal driving.

4g don't really appeal to me. thats my all wheel drive and manual is the only reason why i would get it but for the price, no thanks. hopefully in the future they'll come out with better cars.

yeah... after my 3g, I'm saving to get M5 fully loaded, all options..... forget the 4G.... ugliet thing ever!

4th gen with RJ grille looks amazing, Plus it has the tech package has the highest rated audio system in the industry. Add on to that TL-SH AWD manual and you have a nice piece of car.

I thought it was an abomination at first, but it's grown on me, and would definitely get it if I could afford it with the things mentioned above.

I wanna take mine in for the side mirror clicking back & forth when I back up & not stopping...and also rattleing in the rear speakers...hopefully they give me a 4th gen to romp on & I'll see what I think. I hate the look but RJs got front grill kits that make it look ok. Its too large & not sporty IMO.

The exterior style design is just horrible. Like the people responsible for the Pontiac Aztek came aboard Acura and produced this monstrosity.

I actually disagree with most of the OP's observations, despite owning a 3G TL. The reality is that the 4G TL has many pluses that the original OP did not post. Far more than just four... like the stock audio sound quality for starters...

The subject has been beaten to death, that’s for sure. The issue is that the 4G is a very radical and polarizing design (see Ford Flex) – you either love it or hate it. I think the other problem is the 4G is aimed at a different type of buyer than the 3G, which was a far sportier car.

I just had an 09 TL loaner while I took my parents 99 TL in for another trans replacement. Anyway, my take on the 4G. First off, you can definitely feel the power difference between the 3g and 4g. Although, I did not feel it handled as well as my 05 6MT. To me the suspension felt softer around turns. I absolutely loved the interior. The leather quality is much better, the brushed aluminum has a much smoother feel to it and over all looks nicer. Car appeared to have a great fit and finish with no creeking or rattles. The Navi screen ran smoother (example: when the car is turning in my 05 the map does not turn fluid, it staggers unlike the 4g). The one thing I did not like is no touch screen. I also have to say that the sound system was great. Much more powerful and crisp sounding. Also the thumb drive, aux jack and hdd is very cool. I'm using the tape deck to connect my ipod in my 05. Good thing Acura decided to keep the tape deck in my car instead of adding and aux jack. Now, the exterior. It's one god damn ugly looking car!!! My mother saw the loaner car and her first comment was "wow what an ugly car." She couldn't believe it was the replacement to my car. This is coming from a 60 yr old woman who knows nothing about cars. I told the guy at the service department how nice the car was except the exterior was ass ugly. He said everyone says the same thing. Way to go Acura!!! Personally, the only car in the Acura line-up that I would consider getting now is the TSX. They even decided to kill the RDX and put the bottle opener grill on that too.
