gear slippage?

In an earlier thread (https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/warren-zevon-rip-113571/), I noted that I let my brother drive my TL for a week and now my clutch clicks and my gearbox is loose or something...blah blah blah...

Anyways, I've been driving it today...to and back from work and noticed that the gear box is very weird and I said this in the earlier thread,

"2.) Before I lent my brother my car, my gear box felt smooth and when I was in a gear and touch the stick, it wouldn't wiggle or anything, but now, when I'm in a gear and I touch the stick it wiggles and shakes and feels like there's a lot of space, it doesn't feel as stiff as it did before. "

So now I realized that it seems as if I am driving in a gear, I can EASILY put it to neutral without pressing the clutch. Before, It didn't feel like that, but now, I think with a slight tug, it can slip out of gear...Can anyone tell me what's wrong? I have an appt for tomorrow with Acura of Glendale.

Thanks.

it aint broke, dont fix.

what you describe is typical of most manual trans after many miles of use. i can on my trucks simply take it out of gear without the clutch while "coasting" in gear.

hmm...with many miles of use? My car has less than 10,000 miles...even 8,000 miles..

ok, let me make this clear

your trans, low mileage, beat the balls off = high mileage easy driven trans

i'm not talking about actual mileage, i'm talking about what happens after one beats the balls off a manual trans.

if the synchros are bad you have to take apart the tranny to fix it. this is not gonna be easy of cheap. take it to a transmission shop first and see wha they say. don't go to acura just yet as they will try to milk you for all you're worth.

It's under warranty. Just don't admit to anything other than normal use. Because, as far as you know, that's the truth.

Also, I want to note that my car felt a lot more sluggish....

anyways...I got an RSX loaner and told the service person to take a look at it. Dude, it's weird...when I drive the RSX, it feels like...it's more stable than my TL...like when I go over bumps...the steering wheel doesn't jerk and also...no rattles...only thing is that the RSX feels like a civic/integra, it's ugly, and you can hear outside noise at 70 MPH and above..

Easily taking gears out without pressing the clutch is simply not a big deal. Like RacialSlurs said, your brother might have beating the 6MT TL every chance he got while you were away. It doesn't mean the tranny is already bad, my 1990 Toyota Celica with 199k miles, I can easily take the gear right out but it doesn't mean my gear slips into N while I'm driving. IT's the same with my 1993 Mustang 5.0 GT, it's not a big deal , don't sweat over it.

Dealership will most likely tell you 2 things

1) "oh tranny is bad, you will need to replace A,B,C and will cost you $ABCD"

2) "We didn't find anything"

I have had several MT cars and I was able to slip it out of gear and into neutral. As people said before, no big deal. And this dates back 25 years that I have been driving. Yet if it pops out of gear while driving that is another thing altogether.

As for the RSX, it is a diffferent kind of car and ride. I have driven all the cars (except for the rl). They all felt different some more nimble than the CL I had. None of them has the power.
