Referencing only wheel size is just about as useless as only stating miles per tank. There are other variables, namely tire size, that provide much more useful data. You can put 16", 17", 18", and possibly 19" wheels on your car and not have your speedo be off at all by using the proper tire size. I can easily have my speedo off by 10% using my factory rims by putting different sized tires on.

To note...I do not personally know if you can get the correct tire size on 19" rims to not throw off the speedo. Just making a point that the wheel size does not guarantee the speedo is accurate or not.

Over 130k miles in an '04 6MT TL, average calculated from fill ups mixed city/highway (65% city) = 25 mpg (24.6 for the anal!). Highway speeds typically 70-75 mph. I've seen little to no difference between 4 sets of tires.

I get about 18-19mpg in all city taking 14.4 gallons to fill. I just got back from a trip where I got 30.5mpg 420 miles taking 13.7 gallons to fill. That trip was all highway averaging 70mph on the MID but with stints of 85-90mph with 3 people in the car, luggage and the A/C on.
