Gas Mileage

Gas Mileage
I have an automatic 06 acura tl and I love it, its a very comfortable car with adequate power for daily driving and I do prefer the auto because where I live I normally get stuck in bumper to bumper stop and go traffic.
Despite the love for my car the one thing I would change about it, is that I would love to improve the mileage I get out of it. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as far as simple modifications like a new air filter/intake or exhaust. Pretty much anything short of a manual transmission, a new car or dramatic modifications like weight reduction.
Thanks

I have and 06 auto as well, I drive mainly city as well and i get about 19mpg average according to the car... I have done the fuel cleaner, air filter and the fuel mileage has stayed the same. Thats why I also have a 01 Civic!

Air filter does not increase or decrease your MPG even if its dirty or new. Fuel cleaner works maybe .0001%. The best thing to do is to MAINTAIN your tires (tire tread of the brand of tire helps also), maintain your tire air pressure (I do 40 all-around, don't do 32psi), remove excess weight from car, and to drive correctly. Too light on the gas will result in a hotter torque converter losing more gas, and going to fast will make you lose gas faster also. When approaching a stop sign/light do not brake immediately unless you have to, de-accelerate and when approaching light/sign/car brake slightly. Check for alignment of your vehicle as this could cause a slight MPG loss. V1M01, my 06 TL averages 32 MPG on the highway and 14 MPG City. My city driving is literally stop every 2 seconds and go due to high volume of traffic in Texas. Straight Highway going 65 yields me 32-33 MPG.

^ yes I know but there are tips in that thread that are not considered dramatic.
