Based on other posts here is appears that the fuel economy and performance both increase after the breakin period. Since you didn't prevode a reference as to the fuel economy your getting, it is hard for us to help compare (pay attention to the wording you use when you post). But most of us are getting 18 in the city and 22-24 on the highway. What are you getting that you think you TL is "burn a LOT of fuel REALLY fast" as opposed to burning a lot of fuel REALLY SLOW (Go to high school and learn how to write and then try posting again in a legible manner. Shheesh!).

What ndabunka meant to say was that the EPA ratings are 20/28 for automatic and 21/29 for stick. Your mileage may vary.
You don't say what you're seeing, but it should improve as the car breaks in. I'm seeing around 21 in heavy street driving, and as high as 28 in heavy highway driving at reasonable speeds.

mixed driving gives me 21-22 mpg. highway can get me over 30 mpg.
when i turned the VSA off this morning, i got 34-38 mpg on the highway (less than 10 miles @ 75 mph).

its always funny when the spelling/grammar police make many spelling/grammar mistakes while they lecture you about your spelling/grammar.... lol
anyway
i drive a lot with the sportshift, and rpms are usually going crazy, so i suspect i dont get very good gas mileage, but its fun. i'm sure you can get relatively good gas mileage if you drive it in a way to get good gas mileage

I'm having the same problem but as previous posts say its probably because of the break-in period. I have filled up three times already and I have 607 miles on it. Trip comp says my MPG is 18. Majority of it has been street driving...hopefully it improves.

with 8k miles on my 04 it gets ~19 mpg in mostly city driving. 18 mpg when I'm getting on it. I get 30mpg+ on the highway @75-80 mph. Wish the city was a little better, but I didn't buy the car to be efficient. I wanted fast and comfortable.
