G8 GT or TL-S
So I came across an 09 g8 gt for 30K with 5k miles on it at a local infinity dealer. Red with 2 black racing stripes down the middle.. intake, borla exhaust, tints. keep the tls ??hmmmmmm

Get the G8 if you value performance more than interior aesthetics. You have to be able to live with the blah interior. The incredible performance may be just enough to offset that blah.
I contemplated the G8 before going with the Type S. I could not live with the blah, despite the brute strength of that motor.

Same here. I love the look of the G8 and i really wanted to RWD.. but found this 08 TL at a good price and had to take it.
Edit: That price seems farely steep though.. A dealer in SanFran had a 08 G8-GT with 17k in white with black interior for $21.8k..

GM vs. Acura!
I hope you are kidding because I would never do that trade. Keep the TL-S I just saw a pick with a 03-CLS 6speed beat the G8 during a roll on race. Anyways GM has a lot of work to do in terms of reliability to compare with Honda, also that G8 once the warranty is up will be worthless nobody will want to touch it. Just my 2 cents...

It comes down to what you value more, performance or looks. Looks are subjective but I think that the TL looks better inside and out. Howevre, the G8 will stomp the TL stock for stock in a 1/4 and the gap will only widen as mods are thrown at it. From a roll, a well driven 6mt TL-S would not lose too badly. Remember, the G8 will give you much larger gains dollar for dollar in mods and the RWD will make sure you can put the extra power down. The aftermarket support is HUGE. You have so many choices in serious mods it's crazy.
The LSx is every bit as reliable as the J32. The transmissions are even more reliable than the Honda units. You're not going to have to worry about snapping axles if you put a sticky tire on it. The Honda interiors seem a little more durable over the long run but GM quality is getting better every day. That's why I have to say it comes down looks vs performance.
I can give you my personal experince... Not once ever has the GN's terrible interior crossed my mind while I'm driving it. You don't even notice stuff like that in a car that has power.

I'd keep the TL since you're in a snow belt state. If I was down south I'd probably think long and hard about the G8 though. Also, when I'm looking for used cars I always try to go for ones that are bone stock. People generally don't mod their cars just because they have too much money, it's usually because their foot is already to the floor all the time and it's still not enough for them. I want as much life left in my used car purchase as possible so I can be the one to use it up!

G8 all the way. The interior is great despite what some say. That car handles like no other and the power delivery is ridiculous. There is a lot of aftermarket support for it and it has so much potential. Only downside is the MPG. Pretty bad a daily especially during these times.

def go for the type s ... the g8 is a pontiac, and since they are no longer in production, they will lose a ton of value over the next few years. the type s is a good balance of everything IMO ... also the interior is phenomenol

If anything the value will go up since its no longer made. Its still made in various forms so parts and mods will always be available. Since I have a fast car already, the Tl's looks and features won me over. If it was my only car, GM all the way. That assumes you value speed as much as me which many don't.

Ah nevermind, not worth responding to.

after having a taste of the srt, I enjoy the torque more than the HP.
if I could add a little low end torque to the TL, it would be awesome.
Inaccurate was right, 0-60 is where its all about.
fuck this 100MPH+ BS.

I couldn't agree more. I love the torquey feeling in a street car.

The TL is awesome for a small V6, I just wish it delivered the power a little differently but that would be hard to do and keep the hp without FI.

TL-S or G8 GT...that's a tough call. I looked at a few G8s before I got my TL and they are awesome. I'd probably go for the TL-S just because its more luxurious and techy. But that's just my preference.

Turbo is all about torque. Size it right and you'll be making peak torque below 2000 rpm like a 335 or 911 turbo. Of course the stock internals would not like that but you would have the option to delay full boost until say 3,000rpm where it would be safer yet 2,000rpm sooner than stock. Peak torque should be within 10% of peak hp.

I love the G8 GT- would love a G8 GXP even more. BUT, for LONG term ownership (10+ years), I think I'll be happier with the '06 TL 6spd I bought new. That's why I haven't traded.
The cars have very similar lines and stances, when you really look at them. It's no wonder they both seem appealing.

G8>TL-S any day of the week...is this a real question LOL. Okay so the TL has a better interior that's because its an Acura which is a luxury brand. The G8's interior isn't that bad considering its a muscle car. RWD V8>FWD V6

The G8 was not on my radar screen when I was looking for a car because I wanted a 6 sp. manual. Then I settled for an 2008 automatic, and kick myself whenever I see a G8, because they are great looking car, and I never even test drove one. And, they should hold their value well since there are many Pontiac fans out there, and this was the last great car they offered.

really depends on your situation..........if you need a long term dd then i would say stay acura ......now if you have more than one vehicle ....and want a car to pull out and go h.a.m ......i would say go with the G8....................
American cars are never perfect for long term usage unless you are willing to keep them maintained ........but either way ...keep the ZINE posted ......

However, I put 220,000 on the GN on the original engine and 100,000 of that was running deep in the 11s and I beat on it every day. I went through a couple transmissions but so do Acuras. It was amazingly trouble free even at over 500hp for 100,000 miles. I might give a slight edge to Acura over the long haul but it's so close I would not let that make the decision. Let's not forget the 5at issues that tend to get overlooked. I know of many LS1 powered Camaros that are well past 100,000 miles and beat on daily that have been completely trouble free.
I see more stupid little problems with some GMs like oil pressure guages not working and things like that but overall reliability is very good.

the TL does come with more features standard than most other cars for the money ...that's why alot of people get them ......then you can mod em out ........but the fact of the matter is when you want power power unless you're really going to put some money into the TL ........it won't compete ...........so if yo go get a car that has 400hp already then mod it out ...where does that leave the TL......
There is always a compromise somewhere when it comes to vehicles...........the best bet is to get what u truly want that best suits u and just go from there ....there is always gonna be a better ride out there....no matter what you get in my opinion.....

yeahh the car seems like alot the sticker price at the dealer is 29K with 15k miles (not 5).. maybe because it has exhaust and intake and its 09?
