G37S Sedan vs 5.0 R-Spec

i got a buddy that just bought a new genesis r spec 5.0l with 430hp who thinks he can take me. havent got a good race in yet but we had a couple quick rolling 5mph-50mph runs and we were literally side by side neither car pulling ahead

but he still insists he can take me out if we have a proper race. im thinking his cars too big and heavy it weighs about 500lb more than mine.

what do u guys think? this race will happen real soon ill try to record it for u guys

my car:
2011 G37S sedan rwd 7at mods are stillen gen 3 coldair intakes, muffler deletes and spare tire and jack removed

It should be an extremely close race judging by the motortrend stock 1/4 mile times

G37S 13.5@105mph

vs

Genesis R-spec 13.3@107mph

Since your buddys car is new i assume that its stock
I think you'll see more of the same result maybe your mods will give u an edge
MAKE SURE U GET A VID

I know nothing about those cars, but I am guessing your G37 is good for mid 13s? I think a car rated @ 430hp should put down at worst 370whp, so unless it weighs a ton, I see him being a bit faster especially as the MPH increases...

Considering the G sedans are a bit quicker than the coupes, it should be very close, especially since you are modded (albeit slightly). I heard the Stillen G3s give the 'new' VQ a good bump in power, although in the past intakes haven't done much. Definitely try to get it on video and of course, be safe.

On a side note, have you rode in his car? How does it feel? I really do like the Genesis sedan.

yes i believe the stillen intakes give about 18whp and plus they go behind the grill so its like a ram air setup
i was with him wen he bought the genesis and test drove it. its a nice car got lotta power and has 8 speed auto tranny. but it didnt feel like any faster than my car. i jsut wonder how much faster it is at higher speeds

Sounds like it will be a great run from you casual roll race experiences. Should be a great drivers race. Both have very short gearing and a similar power to weight ratio. How many miles do both of your vehicles have? Im sure it will be faster as the engine breaks in.

^ Meh. From what I heard, no matter what the 'first' mod is on that motor, the result is 15-20whp. I doubt you will see another 20whp from test pipes alone, maybe 8-10. You don't have an LS2.

well supposedly the Genesis R Spec is faster then the Panamera S so either should be a good race, But I believe that the Genesis will end up edging you! get it on video and keep it safe out there in Mexico

^ Gears are also shorter and powerband is a little bigger. But I doubt your TL-s would've beat your current G37.

You can definitely see over 300whp with full bolt ons/tune.

300whp is definitely possible with full bolt-ons + a tune. You shouldn't have a tough time getting there.

As far as the race between you and your buddy goes I think the Genesis will get you, but not by much. Most G37's trap around 105 right? I saw a review somewhere saying the Genesis 5.0 R-Spec traps 107mph and is somewhere in the low 13's. I don't know how much your bolt-ons will help you without a tune but I'm guessing that it's gonna be a very close race. Try and get it on video if you can!

quick run i recorded last minute right before we raced.. rolling launch dont know what speed im guessing about 15mph his car jumped on me right away i was trying to get a half car headstart on him lol but my car didnt pick up till after. i think my car may have been in a higher gear or somethin at the end of the video i was staying right on his ass and then he let off oh well i will have a better race soon with him and ill get it on video for u guys.

Bingo...... the Genesis R-Spec will come real strong up top. Same goes true for the 385hp version V8 trim. From 0-60 the infiniti will not likely lose to it due to the weight advantage. But start from highway, man, you are done. Expect to see Genesis muffler. They'll pull hard. I ran against a 385hp version a while back and got waxed from 80- 130+ mph. Hot daymn.. that thing seemed to pull harder in the triple digits than the 335i I ran against in the highway.

G37 7AT has aggressive gearing but they are not that strong up top. Try racing at higher speeds, say from 60- triple digits. Go do it in the highway, and be prepared to get dusted. I doubt you'll post the video as you probably don't want to post it losing to another car. ha ha
