The TL's are land Yachts. I did initially pull away from the BMW and stayed in it but was pulled in like a magnet was reeling me in. PATHETIC. Thats why I don't play around or race anyone.

335 is not faster than a G37 coupe as I experienced
I don't go with numbers or dynos, at road, everythings different
Even a friend long time ago with this Type-S was able to keep up with 335 sedan
He once tried with a G37, it was his first and last
Forget G35 or other ones but G37S Coupe, don't get close

Drag Times list the slowest 335i, a convertible, on page 13 car #250 did 13.9 @ 99.8. My car which is only middle of the pack is on page 7 & car #128 on the list, hardly a heavy hitter to write home about.
By comparison the closest TL to the last place 335i is #5 on the two page Acura list. There are a few guys here at Acurazine faster then the last place 335i but the odds of all these friends we hear about thumping the 335i with their TL does not compute.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but the fastest TL listed would make page 11 & car #202 if it was on the 335i list.

I am not in for talking "track" runs
That's not my experience nor mentioned it on my posts
Talk about what I mentioned
Time, conditions and road
or ask why I am thinking at that second MY car was at perfect tone to run
NOT saying other TL's are fast as mine
Didn't even read the long posts ^ after I saw "track"

Heard that about MT Accords but never had a experience with that
Some say it did beat TL-S but I never go with what people says on this AZ, I won't say ohh my car won't even keep up with it. Have to test and see
I don't go with numbers too.

True Bear.....but at the same time, the 335 is much more mod friendly than the TL. Not really a comparable car, but you knew that; hence your skepticism on most of these stories. I know what point you are trying to make
MEKO: You're right, numbers aren't everything, but yhey can paint a pretty good picture when 'analyzed' correctly with equal drivers. The only way I see your 07 TL-s keeping up with a 335i is if it's 6spd. Which it's not, judging by your "55mph in the sweet spot of 2nd" claim. No one is saying it didn't happen, it's just not the norm and probably won't happen again.

Thing is I am not down on TL’s just on the associated BS about what cars they are putting down & how quick they are compared to cars that are actually quick. As some of you may know I had a 2006 6MT from 2006 till 2011 which was a very nice car.
That being said it had a real hard time matching my 2004 330 ZHP 6MT in any number of runs over a number of years. The TL won on occasion but it want not the norm even though the cars were pretty evenly matched with the TL having a power advantage. It did not matter if we switched drivers the 330 was always easier to launch & drive well.

Yeah it all depends.
I tried to keep up with a S5, what happend is after 115 he drove away.
That shouldn't be the actuall point we compare cars here. nor the tracks or drag races.
TL is slow but when it comes to numbers but I won't say that for my car. Again depends on the condition.
Had a way more clear run with R32 than that 335 on one night.
He slowed down to a nice spot I liked...2nd gear
both floored it and couldn't get in front of me even once
It was 08 one
Ask me or anyone about it
All I would say is that 250HP small beast would take it easly.
but I feel like that's shouldn't be the point, when we talk about it here
3G TL is a different car unlike Germans
That's why I love it
You feel everything on that car and smallest things effect the car
Do I like or care about drag race? No
Road is different, that's the place you test and feel the car.
I don't care about top speed as well.
How i kept up with a corvette in light trafic at NJ gives me fun and makes me love my car.
I didn't learn driving in track or drag..never been there. Roads are real to me.
Well.. not talking about US, here roads are like driving in a parking lot in Europe

Are you recognizing that the only way you kept up is because there was traffic? I hope so. Otherwise it's like the episode of Top Gear where they tested a Prius all out against a M3 just keeping pace. The M got better gas mileage because it was working half as hard.

for a FWD, both are fairly fast, along with the base 04-06 6MT being only a few .1s off of that.

I seriously dont know why people say TL's are so "slow", yes automatics are not good for performance but my automatic TL-S can beat modded 8th gen civic SI's, GTI's, and can stay with G35's. you just need to know what gear you have to be in for the race. I can definitely hold my own from a dig with my michelin PS2 summer performance tires. but yea dont race in a hot summer day, the TL heatsoaks like no other. when its cold outside, the TL is plenty fast enough for me. doesnt anyone remember the japanese drift king who drove the TL-s on willow springs racetrack and spanked an IS350 and G35? That shows that it's people who cant drive the car, not the car is slow.(automatics still require precise shifting with manual mode!)

Because its not 2004 anymore when the TL 6MT was considered hot. Today there are just too many 11 & 12 second daily drivers available to think about a 14 second car as being quick. Its still a very nice car but time has changed the playing field.
Even the G-37 has lost its edge. In a recent C&D 3 coupe test an Audi TT did 12.1 X 113, a BMW 135 13.0 X 109 & the G-37 13.9 X 104.

Running with Corvettes in Jersey puts this thread solidly into Fantasy Land. I drove a big block coupe back & forth from the Jersey Shore to Wall St. for about 20 years & any number of re-engines. Car was run at Englishtown on weekends & I am pretty sure a TL could not hang onto my bumper.

^not really. 0-60 times for a 6MT TL-S and a 8th gen accord 6MT are about the same. "whops" is an exaggeration. At that point it will come down to weight and driver skill.

Now a 3rd gen 6MT TL Type-S and 6MT 8th Gen Accord would be a very tight race (depending on driver)

The '13 135is gives up 15hp and (most importantly) 53 lb-ft tq to the 1M. It won't put up the same numbers in stock form. Cool car though.
About toying with people, Not my thing. I like crushing dreams and ending all hope right from the start. That way I don't get bothered by them trying to run again.

Nahh not interested in stuff talked here.
You guys think different. I am sorry
Go ahead and talk about numbers. I won't, neither about a car s 15HP that I didn't even saw of
Some people has to drive more on roads to get some ideas..
Can't keep up with a Corvette Really!!! Didn't know that
How many HP does Corvette has?
Isn't 320HP?
Come on gets, come on
This form is not for noobs.
People here should know what they are talking about.
If the point is just to throw useless posts...don't take up space
Go on a light traffic that you can't pass 50 or something
and try to see what 200HP car could do to 500HP
It's not the point of top speed
Weight is important too did you guys know
Sorry but can't go this low on this thread to explain stuff.
People would laugh at these conversations at where I came from but I am trying to make it clear so some people gets the logic
You guys have fun.

They won't belive you, no respect.
And some smart comes and says, hey it's 330HP you can't keep upu with that
Oh really
Now what can you explain to this people. Waste of time
May be because I come from different place and to us these are easy to capture and compare but not here.

So what you're saying is... Spend more time driving and we'll be able to go so fast that we can travel through time!?
You're TL will not beat even a 320hp vette, not even close. C5-C6 vettes are from 400-500+hp stock. No, you have NO chance.

So, you and the vette were stuck in traffic. Along with mini vans, econo boxes, broke down POS's...

The numbers aren't irrelevant. They're indicators of real world performance. The numbers are what they are. Your car is not some crazy factory freak that defies the laws of physics and you are not a Jedi.

First looks show 13.2 X 106 for the 135is, not to bad. Its really hard to say what the horspower spread is because BMW plays with the numbers to suit its marketing requirements. On three pure stock base line dyno pulls my 335is did 319 320 & 320 which would put the crank horsepower well over the advertised number. I expect its the same for the 1M.

I believe it. I ran a G37 n he got his handed to him. granted i do have a number of mods. Even still, if you look at the numbers the g37 coupe is slower then the sedan...i dont get that but thats how Infiniti did it. When i see them i dont hesitate to press out.

I'll play around with G37 Coupes, especially convertibles, any time of the week .
Sedan w/ 6MT / 7AT, forget about it.
One thing VQs have over the J is low end torque, I doubt you caught him out of the wrong gear ... perhaps he was hauling 400 pounds of cinder blocks?
