g-tech is bs! VW GLI?

My friend got a new vw jetta gli 2.0 turbo w/ the dsg trans. It has 200 hp from factory. So far he has an intake and removed resonator from his exhaust. Well I know for a fact my car is faster, cuz' we raced like 10 times and every time, good launch or not, I smoke him. Here's the thing. He bought a g-tech and it consistantly says his cars 0-60 is quicker and so is his qm and hp. He set it up in my car and I got 14.98 (bs) @101. 0-60 was 7.1 seconds, max hp through 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th was 197 hp. His car was 2/10's of a second faster (14.7), with a lower trap speed (98mph). 0-60 was 6.8 and his max hp was 195. I don't understand? Maybe his magic black box tells him he's faster, but in the real world, I could line up with him, he could launch on the third honk and me on the fourth and I'd still beat him before a qm-

So, what the f#ck-

I've never used one, so I don't know for sure... but aren't you supposed to input certain data, like the weight of the car it's being used in?

It's just like a dyno. If you have the wrong gear ratios, it won't read right.

Pure Adrenaline is exactly right. If you haven't input the data into whatever the thing is he put in your car it's not going to read correctly at all.

Better to find out exactly what input parameters you need, then ask us. Ask your buddy or have him look up the manual.

Most of us can help with weight, gear ratios, etc. Very few know exactly what input data is required on the G-tech.

It's inaccurate to begin with, anyway. I don't trust it.

umm... if he's already set the G-tech according to his weight/gear ratio etc., and just plug into your vehicle... of course the reading will bennefit him

i took my gtech to the track a couple of times and it was always correct to w/a hundredths of a second of the track time.
the 'trick' to setting it up correctly is that you have to configure it on a spot that's level. i would alway config mine in my garage and then drive to the track. which gtech model does he have?
