I would like to hear some dumb/funny things you have done while owning your TL.

My story:

I have a '05 TL and I had read the stories of the infamous rattles. I do have one - very minor. However, driving around I heard rattling and I was I figured I had ANOTHER rattle and spent lots of time trying to find it. Turned out it was the one of the seatbelts hitting another piece of plastic.

 

i have a bad habit or turning the ignition to off before i shift into park. I've also curb checked my wheels a few times. Damn it.

 

I let my wife drive the car.

 

driving in D and thinkin your in SS and shifting into N and your friends looking at you like WTF is wrong with you

I installed subs which just makes the rattles 50 times worse. pretty dumb.

 

Friend had my cooler from a poker party a couple of weeks prior ... (Big cube type on wheels)

Went to pick it up and there was some water and a few lukewarm beers left over ... figured I'll dump the water outside instead of in his sump pump. Got upstairs started talking to his wife, figured "I'm only going 1 mile .. what could go wrong??" threw the cooler in and off I went. Going around a corner like 200 yds from my development .. you guessed it .. SPLASH!!!!!

I swung over threw it in park (mind you I'm on the shoulder of a blind curve coming down hill .. but not to worry I had the emergency flashers on ) I literally swept 2-3 gallons of water off the top of my seat with my arm

Long Story short .. 3 big waffle weave towels sucking out water, 1 week with two big bags of desicant in the car and I still had to take out the back seat and turn it over in the sun to dry out!!! (Thank God it was only water)

 

Oh yeah .. I also did the rattle thing for like three days .. my three year old had put a few pieces of his prize rock collection in the rear door pocket

 

when i forget to roll up my windows after leaving the car, ive always jumped back in, turned on the car, and rolled them up that way. Everytime i do that i think.. "dam why am i in here when i could be outside with the key turned in the door to turn it off"
Im really REALLY going to try to remember next time.

 

LOL. I did that too

 

I installed the Aspec suspension without getting an alignment performed afterwards. This pretty much trashed my rear tires. I just finished posting THIS THREAD if you want to read the long drawn out details.

 

Dumbest thing I did to my car....


I started modding it.

 

My mom got her Tl and the third week i got up at 7 am to go somewhere. WHen i got home while parking i went to turn the radio off and hit the gas instead of brake and went on the curb onto my grass and a pine tree marked the side of my car. I spent the next 4 hours going to auto stores seeing what i could get to remove some minor scrathing. I could not get it out and suprisingly she did not care. Its my care now. lol
