Fuel Type

I am the proud owner of a 2007 TL and I have a question about the fuel type that you guys are using. The manual states that +91 octane is recommended but is that required. Have any of you used 89 octane? Could you notice a difference? The salesperson mentioned that as long as you used +91 octane about every 4th fill up, you should be fine. I just want to make sure that I am doing the right thing and figure that you guys are the experts and might be able to share your thoughts.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
