Front Strake: is it important?
Front Strake: is it important?
So i searched and didnt find anything. The search feature is so usless
I never really fancied the look if the front lower strake. So while i was removing my bumper, i took it off and left it off. Now my question is, will this affect anything? I heard it was to deflect air up and into the radiator. Will i experience issues without it?
For those wondering what im talking about, im refering to the flap underneath the front bumper.
Thanks in advance

The flap may get annoying, but it's useful. So far, 95% of the time I hear a scrape, it's from that flap. It acts as a warning for me to take that incline at a larger angle next time.
From personal experience, that flap is pretty damn durable. I've scraped it day in day out. I would keep it on.

Ehhh I had mine off for awhile and didn't notice a change in anything as far as the car goes. However I did put mine back on, mine just looks like it went through a cheese graider because I am maxed out on tein coilovers...
Chance to whore out some pics....
That lower Air Dam ruined this shot if you ask me.

Here is a similar angle without the Air Dam...looks much better.

I have had mine removed for a long while now and dont miss it at all. According to my ScanGaugeII it has done nothing to temps either.

I have an 07 base I have been running, just did my timing belt about 15k ago so fresh OEM blue coolant and thermo and I always watch what "tick" I am on and steady 2 below the symbol even on our 90 degree days here recently. Mine has been off since I did the timing belt.
If you're worried about the possible extra heat from removing the strake - why not simply remove the plastic panel between the hood and windshield? It's my understanding that thing hold more heat under the hood than anything else...
