I'm from Cali and I only know one person who's gotten a ticket for no license plate. I drove a '99 civic for 6 years with no front license plate and I never got a ticket for it. I decided to leave it on the TL. I have my windows tinted illegally so I didn't want to give the police a second excuse to pull me over.

Any IL lawyers or cops amongst us care to comment?

They only give us one plate in Indiana and we drive to Chicago all the time. Never a problem.

I remember one member saying something like "the cosmetic appeal is much greater than the fines associated with it". I think he was talking about tint but I feel this statement goes well with this subject too.

I never have the front plate on since 98. I've had 3 tickets for no front plate, but never fixed it. I just put it on when I have to go to LAX. Other than that, the plate goes back onto my garage wall.

I live in Texas and just got pulled over last week for speeding. Guy not only gives me a speeding ticket, but also a ticket for no front plate. In Texas, that's a $100 ticket. I learned my lesson. Put that front plate right back on. Plus, it's nice to not give a cop a reason to pull you over.

I live in Illinois and had no license plates on my Prelude for 7 years. I received a couple of tickets (both parking and moving) for the missing plates. My wife made me put it on because she was sick of walking up to the car and noticing yet another ticket on our car. I've sold that car and now own the TL. They put the plates on the front but I still think it looks better without.

I think I'm going to keep them on for 2 reasons: 1. I don't want to give the cops a reason to hassle me. 2. I don't want to give my wife another reason to hassle me .

"you were just at the wrong place, wrong time" I AGREE.

No front plates on this car, but on last car came outside 2am in morning and was a parking ticket with a 1:15am time on it! Turns out in that neighborhood (WESTWOOD) they do this routinely to parked cars.

Where in Indiana Wes? Munster here.... yea if you live in a state that requires just one plate, you will not have a problem driving in a state where they require 2.

LAX is strict in terms of front plates. i had my front plate once but i removed it so i can install the acura decal in front. i drop off my friend at LAX yesterday and i was pulled over bec of missing front plate. good thing he didn't give me a ticket, he just explained the importance of having a front plate and adviced me to put back the plate at my convenient time. nice cop!!!!

it just looks stupid, so I took mine off. A cop let me know about it when I was stopped in a DUI check one night. But he really didn't care either way he said. This was CT. And the DUI stop was for everyone on the road to the state college on a weekend

Yep, I have both plates on the TL, fine not worth it to me. Having front tints is another matter
