front grill

Does anyone here think that the Acura imbossed in the front bumper area looks tacky? I think I'm going to hide it with a front plate. Just think that it looks cheap, and that that's the only thing about the new 04 TL that I'm not really crazy about.

I like the letters, even though in the anthracite is harder to see.

I'm ticked off that I'll have to cover that pretty nose with a plate

I guess I'm the only one here who doesn't like the embossed Acura in the bumper. I don't mind having Acura on the front, it's just that I don't like the embossed stuff. It reminds me of the way Ford embossed "Mustang" in the rear of their cars. I think an emblem or something would look better. With the Acura, I like the "A" in the grill, but that embossed Acura in the bumper just looks cheap to me, and is. It would cost a few dollars more to put an emblem there instead of just stamping Acura into the plastic. Don't get me wrong, I love the car, and am just nit-picking the only thing I'm not totally in love with about the car. I LOVE IT!, and can't wait for my car to be delivered mid March. I'm getting anthracite/ebony/navi/6speed/high performance tires...and I just can't wait for it to arrive...droll...droll...droll!!!!

I like it on my TL, that's why I didn't put a front plate on. I just wish that I could plug up the holes that are for the license plate frame. Any help here?

JetJock,

Nah, I'm with ya. The embossed Acura on the front is more hot-rod (Mustang) than it is classy-sporty -- something that I've always thought embodied the Acura brand.

For instance, when I was shopping for a small sports coupe, I was comparing the Integra with the Mitz Eclipse. The Integra screamed "sporty with understated STYLE" while the Eclipse said "I'm so cool! Look at my lines and curves!"

The Integra seemed much more at ease with itself. The TL's front embossment tells me that someone wasn't completely happy with themselves when they designed it.

The TSX reminds me of the design strategy of the Integra. The TL does venture into more type-A personality territory, no doubt.

That said.. the 04 TL is lightyears better than the 03 TL styling. 2nd Gen TLs were Japanese Oldsmobiles, for crying out loud.

Jon

Talking I LIKE it so much I'm painting the letters...

:clown: I like the new nose SOOOOO much that I've decided to paint the recessed letters a nice bright Banana Yellow! Don't you guys agree that doing that would REALLY make my TL stand out?

Black Velvet,

Look carefully through your car. The dealer should have included the painted tabs that fit these holes, that are exactly the same as the large one for the towing accessory. Mine were in the plastic bag the front license plate frame came in. In Arizona, we aren't required to have a front license plate and I think it looks much better without. I think the Acura indentions are so subtle, I don't know that anyone really notices, especially from another car on the street.

I don't like the ACURA thing on the front either. I took my front plate frame off before my Calif. plates arrived, and I thought the front of the car looked kind of blank without it. plus, the way the lower air intake thingies are set off to the sides allows for the front plate to sit between them. I prefer it on.

Me too, I think it looks much better with a front plate, but not a state lic. plate, something classy.

i think the molding of the ACURA in the front bumper looks really tacky and cheap too. no doubt. the car's amazing, but that is just unnecessary. when i got the car i was happy to see that the front plate (required in cA) covered it, and since i'm forced to keep the plate there, it really doesn't make a difference that it's there. i bet there will be some nice aftermarket bumpers available in the near future.

I think the letters would look nice if they were black letters(on SSM) otherwise, I'll keep my plate on

I think I'm just going to cover up my letters with a nice front plate and plain black metal frame, and maybe put an Acura plate in the frame. That way I'll still have the Acura but I just think it adds a little more dimension to the bumber with the plate. It looks like something is missing in the front area of the bumper, and that embossed Acura just doesn't cut it.
