Front Engine Mount

So I tried replacing my front engine mount today and after getting all the bolts off, the old mount would not budge.
I had a jack with 2x4 under the oil pan and when lifting it up, it looks like the whole car lifts together with engine and no separation for mount to come loose.
Do I need to put the car on jack stands first?

You have to unbolt the side engine mount first man.

All the write-ups I've read never mentioned having to do that. Makes sense though.
Thanks.

I got that info from experience. I can assure you it will solve his problem.

Tried jacking up my motor without unbolting the side mount, car went up with the engine; same problem as him.

Unbolted the side engine mount, engine went up, car didn't. Clearance made to remove the front or rear mount. Problem solved. EZ.

I did not solve it yet. Ended up putting it back together and will try again this week.
I did change the side mount first and maybe because it is new, it might be stiffer and not allow engine to lift up.

unbolt the big center bolt from the side mount to allow the engine to separate a little. my front engine mount was a little stuck from the years of grime the front accumulates. I wedged a flathead screwdriver where the big center bolt mates with the engine piece to get it to move a little so i knew it was loose enough to slide out.

It actually was lol but none of the research i did it come up that i have to loosen up the side mount first. To the OP i would use one of the top two videos listed on this search thats what walked me through it. Good luck jedi

I replaced my front engine mount this morning with OEM Acura part.

Even after removing the side mount bolt, the engine and chassis would lift together.

So I put the car on jack stands and the engine raised up and was able replace the mount with ease. Only thing I removed was the coolant overflow tank. Mount came right out and back in easily. The top of my mine was broken off.
And no it did not come close to hitting and damaging the battery box as others claim. No need to raise it that much.

Thanks for all the advice.
