Interesting article about Lexus.
Toyota concerned about aging owner base for Lexus
Lexus is in danger of becoming another Buick, a brand known and bought for being quiet, safe, reliable and comfortable. And that's about it. According to research done by IHS Global Insight, Lexus buyers are looking at the same things as Buick buyers.
"Lexuses are dolled-up Toyota appliances," said Rebecca Lindland of IHS Global Insight. "They're built for reliability and dependability, not to generate excitement."
That means attributes like driving excitement and design quality are not top priority when customers go car shopping. Worse still the average Lexus owner is 56 years-old. Comparatively the average Buick buyer is approaches 70 years of age.
"Lexus is Buick in training," said Lindland. "Lexus made its name with baby boomers. They're aging, and the average age of Lexus owners is increasing with them. Lexus hasn't been able to supplement the baby boomers' loyalty with younger buyers. They've tried with vehicles like the IS sport sedan, but they haven't been able to penetrate younger buyers."
The Japanese premium car maker may be recognising this disturbing trend, hence the recently teased Audi A3/ BMW 1 Series competitor. There are also other segments dominated by youth in which it does not play.
"Part of the problem is that Lexus doesn't have a good entry crossover SUV like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5," Lindland said. The RX 350 -- Lexus' best-selling vehicle by a wide margin -- is about the same size as those vehicles, "but it's seen as a mom-mobile, darned near a minivan," she said. "You expect it to be driven by a woman with children.
Given that the SUV is the top seller for Lexus should raise eyebrows in a market dominated by cars like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Additionally, it does not seem the introduction of two new vehicles, the IS sedan and even more powerful IS-F has not helped the company to challenged its segment rivals despite critical acclaim.
Hope bears down on the HS 250h hybrid which is due to launch this fall. A serious victory will be claimed if the premium hybrid can generate half the excitement as the Toyota Prius hybrid. However, with an EPA rating of 35 mpg compared to the Prius' 51 mpg, it's already got one strike against it.

IMO, Lexus drivers are more stupid, immature, bragging, and a bunch of assholes. Im not saying Lexus is cheap or somthing but lol its just a Lexus, not a freaking Ferrari or something hahhaha.
I gotta admit that Bimmers drive a lilt aggressive but hey at least we give out signals before we cut

As Jeremy Clarkson said... "sitting in a lexus is like sitting in a bucket of warm wallpaper paste" and he also said you have to be a dork to drive a Lexus

So this is not an IS-F? It's a look-a-like? Whatever man, if you like the TL-S then you do, if you like the IS with F package more then, just congratulate him on the deal and go get one! The more you let it bother you the more he's gonna "rubbing ON your face." I thought he got an IS-F for 34k... if THAT was the case he got a great deal and would be more rub-on-my-face worthy. Now that I found out it's just a 'regular' IS... meh...

so who cares if you car isn't better than his, you've gotten a chance to love your car longer than he has, you got a current model year car rather than him getting a 2008 left-over, which was probably left over for some reason (smell anything fishy?)

The "F-sport package" does not even make it in any way to look like a IS-F. It's just a fancy name for the sports package, much like the A-Spec, except that TL doesn't have a type "R".

Just tell him who cares, and tell him:
Quads are not true Quads because it can't be stacked up but only side by side.
Better gas milage either way.
And that hopefully he will run out of money paying on gas than the monthly payments =)
DONE haha

If that is your buddies that grill looks like SHIT!! Looks like one of those cheap ass metal chrome grills guys slap on old chevy pick up trucks.
Make fun of him because he didnt get the IS-F!
Also, the IS350 is not much faster than the Type S and around a curvy track the Type S might just take it.
I sat in a new IS couple weeks ago and the interior was so cramped, the seat bottom wasnt wide enough (and im skinny), and I couldnt get over the top of the dash board was this horrendous plastic material that had some messed up uneven gaps between the air vent area and the dash.
I like my 07 Type S more than the IS (the IS-F is another story though)

yeah the 08 is doesnt have led tail lighsts as well as side blinker. i'm not complaining about my TL-S and we are not really arguing as to whose car is more suprior. Just teasing each other. Thats all. BTW the F package basically comes with better swary bar, brakes from Is-F, 19inch black rims, is-f suspension, diff exhaust and intake. I think thats about it. Just like our TL-type s. Type s comes with diff suspension as well as brakes when compared to base model. I guess the F package is for those who can't afford the IS-F but still wants the name F on their car.
