Free Moleskin? Well almost.......

I saw this link about FREE moleskin used to protect the tint on our windows.

Here's the link:

http://www.empirepao.com/

Click on moleskin on the left side. Sounds like a great deal to me. 10FT is enough to do all four windows.

5 bucks is still better than 30 at tintprotector. i just did mine last week. had the moleskin sitting in my house for over 5 months and just decided to do it. its easy. 4 screws per door, a rag, and 30-45 minutes. Good find op.

That's awesome. Once I get my windows redone I'll have to pick this up. 10' enough to do all 4? I'm assuming you only have to put this on, on the inside of the window right?

Yes, this goes on the inside of your windows on the rubber edging. I already have the moleskin on my TL-S, but I know where to get any if I need to replace it.

Sweet. I have moleskin on right now and my windows are still getting scratched up, not as bad as the first time. I was in a rush while doing it so hopefully next time I'll do it right since this deal is waaay cheaper than tintprotector. Thanks for the heads up LoveMyTL-S...

PEACE!

Cool, thanks OP! I just got my tints today, and I'm not gonna roll my windows down until I install my order of moleskin.

Now, I just need to get my rear quarter tints fixed so it's tinted all the way.

When you order the moleskin it should be peal and stick on the back of it. You just bought the felt itself?

I bought the 10ft of moleskin, however I am concerned about the quality of adhesive. With the car being exposed to hot summer heat, I don't want the adhesive to come off and be smeared all over the tint.

Well, I live in Florida and my glue melted onto the tint some. Goo Gone easily removed it. During the winter is was no issue. We'll see if it happens again this summer. Hopefully not.

It looks good to me but i've never bought any other moleskin so I really have nothing to compare it to. I'll let you know how it goes once it's installed this weekend.

The glue can come off, scratches don't. Use Goo Gone. Then clean with your fav window cleaner.

Thanks for sharing this find.. I had never scratched tints before in my other cars probably cause the door lining never was really tight on the windows..

On the TL the tints are really scratched specially the rear..

I just purchased to have it handy when I change them..

I donated the buck since the program sounds cool..

The EPaO Donation Program

EPaO is more than just a company that wants to make profits from the sale of goods. We are also committed to helping out our local community in ways that we can. There are many different ways to help out within our community. EPaO has chosen to start by implementing a donation program. EPaO donates $1 of *every sale to a charitable organization. The charitable organization is chosen by EPaO and may be different each time we make a donation. As EPaO grows the amount we donate will also grow.
We hope that if you find the same product elsewhere for exactly the same price that you will choose to buy from EPaO knowing that we will take a portion of that sale and donate it within our community. * - some of our products sold are "free" and as such are exempt from this donation program.
Organizations EPaO has donated to:
  • Police Athletic League, PO Box 398, Yaphank, NY 11980
  • Selden Fire Dept, PO Box 2345, Selden, NY 11784
  • Habitat for Humanity, 643 Middle Country Rd, Middle Island, NY 11953

I bought the Moleskin for $30. When I went to a place a few months ago, I asked several questions about Moleskin, he said there are many diff Moleskins and some are really cheap, bad glue. So I really dont know which is best? I am getting my windows tinted very soon. Make sure the windows get tinted first, let everything dry, then install the Moleskin yourself. Thats what I was told to do.

thats what is recommened by tintprotector due to "chemicals" in the spray they use for installing tint and cleaning the windows. thats what i did 2 weeks ago too but had my tints for about 2 months now. minimal scratches unless you really look at it.

Where did you order it from? It should be fairly thin. It's only felt. I would say not paper thin though.

so tint protector > empirepao.com in terms of quality
but empirepao.com > tint protector in terms of price?

empire is 10ft, how much is tint protector?

Custom cut to your car.

And as for the question about InfamousLink's tint getting scratched, I read his post to say he didn't install his moleskin for almost two months after he tinted his windows so the tint was scratched, not that it scratched after he installed the moleskin.

EDIT: I can't believe people are sweating $20 this much.

This thread is deja vu from a couple yrs. ago. That site giving the free stuff has been around awhile now. I bought flnx's stuff because of the claims. When I got the stuff, honestly it didn't look at all special to me so I just have to go by what he says about the material/adhesive. My installer agreed to INSTALL his own moleskin for $50. I thought I'd take that deal because he was installing it and would guarantee it for life as well. I found that the moleskin he used was regular garden variety felt you can get from Michael's arts and crafts, lol. I ended up selling my flnx moleskin.

With one window the moleskin did loosen and come off and I had to put it back on. I have a lil streak of adhesive on another window but no biggie. Most importantly I have no scratches on any tint anywhere. I have seen cars without moleskin scratched to all hell so anyone considering tint, don't skimp on this!

yep, thats my site, empirepao dot com

flnx has contacted me a few times about my sales practice. i guess i have been diverting customers away from him. as noted on my site he does offer "directions" and a few cents worth of rubbing alcohol.

i started "free" moleskin years ago on (not allowed to say it here, but acura world dot com). to date the thread there has over 78.7k views and 325 replies, and has lots of information about moleskin and tinters, its a good read.

i see some have mentioned the moleskin peeling off, but not sure which vendor it came from, or how it was installed. i recommend (at least for TL) for you to remove the wipes completely (never peel the door panel back!). with wipes removed have the windows tinted, let dry, then apply moleskin and reinstall the wipes. cleaning the wipes with rubbing alcohol will give a nice clean surface for moleskin to stick to.

if anyone had empire moleskin peel off i want to know about it.

thanks.
