Found a Cool Feature!!

Hey guys,
So as I was letting the car warm up a bit I decided to fool around with the brightness buttons next to the TACH. I noticed the "MAX" button on top of the "+" and "-" for the brightness. Let's just say this button makes me VERY happy.

You know when it's not light out but not quite dark enough for HID's because it dims your spedometer and you can't see it but you want to put the HID's on?? This button solves the problem. It puts the brightness level to maximum while the HID's are on!!!

Now I can put the HID's on whenever I want and I won't have to worry about having trouble seeing my speed and revs. I also helps with being able to see the NAVI screen.

Matt

I found one today as well. When you pull back on the turn signal lever the headlights turn on while you are holding it back, Then let go and they turn off.

If you don't use the MAX setting does the dash dim when the headlights are turned on?

I think that's what he is saying - using the MAX overrides the auto dim when the headlights are turned on.

what he said was if you put your lights on when it's still a little light outside and don't want the navi to go dark, if you press the max button the navi will stay at the day setting. does that make sense?

Well paraphrased. I believe that is what his post was trying to portray.

Kind of funny to me, though, that you're just now figuring this out. That was one of the first somewhat obscure features that I discovered; I think I discovered it under the same conditions: twilight driving.

The navi has a day light setting where it has a bright background and a night setting with a dark background. You can easily change this in the navi settings menu though to always be bright or dark so its really only applicable to the auto dimming console lights. Its cool that he found it, but this is really one of those doh! moments which you smack yourself in the head for not discovering earlier and keep to yourself

Not worth making a new thread for this but on the 07 TL's the glass is now marked "ACURA" instead of "HONDA" - was at the dealer today for service and notied it in the showroom.

Here's another thing about MAX. He's pretty cool and does a lot of stuff. I've posted this before but it's related so I'll say it again.

I like to adjust the brightness of the dash lights at night to about three quarters of the way down the scale. With the headlights on, pushing MAX cycles between whatever brightness level you selected and MAX brightness. It does this so you don't have to set the brightness level lower every time you turn the lights on.

Op... you may want to read your owners manual because the MAX button is not a secret feature.... hence some of the sarcasm.

When I push the silver round button on my radio comes on and plays sound.

I always thought it was strange that the windshield, doors and rear glass are all marked HONDA.

I know it's made by Honda - and I guess up until I saw the 07 glass today it really didn't bother me. Just seems strange that they would change it now after all these years............

I know, but at least the damn windows that are out in the open and everybody can see, dont have to have Honda plastered all over them. Almost as bad as slapping on a honda badge.

It doesn't matter what it says on the windows, I drive a Honda and there's nothing wrong with that (just like Lexus owners are driving upscale Toyotas).

It's a great vehicle and even better, it's a Honda.

Listen, all I was trying to say is that by pressing this button it overrides the auto-dim as well as the NAVI screen turning dark. This way you can put the HID's on whenever and you don't have to worry about not being able to see the navigation screen or your dials.

And for all of you smart asses making sarcastic remarks, I don't appreciate it. I have never took notice of the button before and figured I'd share it's use with the forum for those who don't know what it does.

All the supposedly "cool" or "new" features are fully explained in the manual that comes with the car. The first thing I do when I get a new car is read the manual back to back, as soon as I get the car back home and park it safely in the garage. Then, I will sit in the car with the manual, testing all the features.

WIth the navi voice and button commands, however, they take a bit more time because there are so many, and I don't use even one-third of them.

I also agree that it's a cool feature, and it's one that I use somewhat frequently while driving during twilight hours when I have my parking lights on.

All of these same things being repeated over and over is starting to sound like "Who's On First?"

I tell you what will be a cool feature to discover...a way to make the names of the tracks show on the screen when you play discs! Can you wiz's get to work on that please? I'm making 99 song DVD-a discs and would like them to show like the Mp3's do!

Like I said "mini Series" The discs do say the name of the song your playing only when they are burned and the burn program has to have that in there, some burn programs do not have it so when you play the discs it won't say anything.
