"Acura's TL is a very handsome front-wheel-drive car. They've got a huge front overhang, but they managed to cut the corners off to manage the proportions."

Thats one of the things I dont like abt the TL. Wish we can get shorter overhangs on 4G

The front end of the TL is quite long, front fender line to front of bumper,I think he is referencing that. I have noticed it being a bit long compared to some of the other cars like the A4 or 3 Series. Not a big issue to me, but it could be improved a bit styling wise, oh well!

Nice to hear him giving prop's to the design of our car . That said, if the GM Designer who did the Aztec compliments the TL I'm selling mine .... FAST

I think its long too but being that its FWD it will be long because Honda/Acura likes to put their engines in front of the axle. The A4 acutally has a long front overhang as well, which Audi usually has with all their models.

There are a few Ford Design that are sold in Europe and Australia that I wouldn't mind owning. If Ford would get there head out of their ASS, and stop design cars for my grandparent and parents here in NA.

That's why I have a TL.

If he thinks the TL front is long/overhang, he should look at the Grand Prix, that thing is hideously long (and ugly) since the rear is so short...

The only problem I have with the long front is the wide turning radius it creates.

A amusing but interesting fact is the lead exterior GM designer on the C6 Corvette is the same guy who designed the exterior on the Aztec. If that amuses you the manager in charge of design on the C5 and C6 Vette previous experience at GM was on the Cadillac Allante.

It's all in the requirements boys.

Actually, it's more to do with front axle (spindle) positioning.

Good point, in the case of the 2nd gen Legend, 1st gen RL, 1st gen TL, Vigor.. its because they're mounted longitudinally with a differential at the front of the motor.

I'd say that the Photoshopped picture above has a bit of optical illusion. Although the front overhang "appears" shorter, it does so because you have massive wheels and little wheel well space. If you make the wheels smaller the overhang will still appear large compared to a BMW 3-series or Infiniti G35 Coupe.

The long overhang is part of what makes the TL unique. Ford has a history of cars with long overhangs; Crown Vics and old Lincolns for example.

The "overhang" is the amount of space between the front wheels/tires and the front bumper (how much car overhangs the front or rear wheels). Our cars have a longer front overhang due to the FWD/transverse engine setup. You can move the engine rearward (and move the front wheels further forward) with a RWD design. The fact that Acura designers were able to make an attractive package even with a somewhat large front overhang is amazing.
