Fogs for TL Type S bumper
Hey guys, i'm going to be converting my 04 TL front end to an 08 Type S(bumper and grille). My question is what fogs would I need to get? Do they have to be OEM, or can I purchase different ones. Tried searching threads, had no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Let me know what brand and how much if I can get other fogs besides OEM. Thanks

OEM would be best, but i know they're expensive as hell.. ebay has DEPO foglamps that might be suitable.. as for other brands i don't know any other besides DEPO that seem to be trusted for a replacement part (as far as lamps go)

If you're talking about the housings, get OEM. If you're talking about the bulbs, you'll need H8 bulbs to fit the OEM housings.

I bought Depo fogs and I thought they were more solid than the OEM replacement. Just make sure you buy that film to put over the lenses to protect it from cracking.

that's why i heard not to buy depo cuz they're always cracking. i'd rather spend the extra money cuz whats the point of buying cheaper if you are going to have to buy it again if it breaks. anyone else got any opinions? while were on it might as well see what bulbs everyone suggests too

I actually didn't know it cost 220 just for the housing. What bulbs would you guys recommend. Saw some pics of tls w HIDs, how could I do that and are they worth it?

hid or halogen regardless, do i still need OEM fog light housing and glass and im not sure if I'll use them more or they might be just for show. I was thinking about disconnecting the stock fogs and connect the wire to the new ones but using the switch already used for it instead of adding a switch in the dash. . .ideas about this ?

i'll have to see. I don't know if I want the more for show or actaully to be used as fogs. If I do it for show, I was either going to remove the fogs already in the headlight and run the wire to the new ones so I can turn them on from the stock switch instead of adding another. How do you guys that did the conversion have them ?

Right now, I am enjoying my custom cold air intake.
or in other words, when i come up with some money, I will get these.

^^^because this isn't Honda civic where after market parts are widely available that made by several companies, our CAI isn't exactly mean for the TL either. Just get the fog, go with HID and call it a day.

^anytime you buy non oem plastic parts; there could be a case of fitment issues.
here is what the ebay ad had to say about that:
I bought DEPO side markers, and while it was a direct fit, it didnt fit nice and snug. I ended up taking sandpaper to one side of the plastic clips.
I'm assuming it could be the same with this.
it will fit, however there might be a slight issue. but nothing more than a little innovative thinking cant solve.
here is what the ebay ad had to say about that:
Although our products are made to fit OEM specifications, there may be slight issues with gaps on lighting. If the vehicle has had collision damage, the chances of improper fitment increase. Vehicles with poor body frame alignment and or flex will also be more likely to have fitment gaps. We guarantee fitment gap are no more than 1/3" wide on each side. Installation by non-certified professionals is dangerous and could cause item or vehicle damage.

idc about if there's a little imperfection a 1/3" gap won't make me go nuts, my main concern is if these will hold up or become the dreaded cheesy melting suckers
