I'ts probably harder since the foglight switch is on the column and not a button.

I'd like to do this too...if I understand what you mean. So, you want the fogs & corners to be on, but not the daytime running lights, correct? If you find out...lemme know!

Fogs plus Corner lights (i.e. Parking Lights) is perfect for dusk. Just for that 1/2 hour or hour before dark.

I too wish the fogs were independent of the headlights.

look in the 3G garage, there is a way to make the fogs run independent of the HID's, though those are for the 2004-2006 TL, though you can figure out the diagrams to fix it for the 07 TL. Forgot to add that the 3G tl lights are controlled by a computer in the engine bay and not just wires and relays.

Once on, the DRLs only turn off when the HIDs are on.

Id also like the fogs to come on with the parking lights. Ive just never tried because its too complicated for me without a DIY. Sooo if you find out let us know how u did it.

i have the electrical book at home when i get in today ill look it up but to my knowledge its harder because it runs from the component switch to the computer n then back out again....somewhere theres a calculation being made by the computer.

the controller for the fogs and headlights is located in the wiper switch arm

one would think if you can gain access to any wires in the steering column (for the toggle switch) you should be able to just cross two wires??

dont take my advice on this though

Black ur right but once it passes the computer theres a resistance on the line.....the sequence is like this....

Combo switch~~>computer (some sort of calculations being made) ~~> resistance added~~~>relay~~~>foglights. im sure if u crossed lines something would go....on the old TL it was direct connection.... switch~~~>relay~~~>Lights

where was the switch located for the 04-06s? If it was the same place, cant you do the same thing they did?

its on the turn signal switch.... the only thing was the old tl had a couple of more wires only to indicate to the computer they were on and to turn the lil light inside the switch on

yea. i know of the 2G & AVG accords its a button, isolated from the everything else, made it kind of easy (like u said, switch, relay, lights)

i think it seems like a cool idea to do this, but, i wouldnt want to be the first to start cutting wires up. maybe if we could get a clear wiring diagram we might be able to figure something out...

like you said that computer MIGHT sense something wrong, it may not. as im sure both lights are std 12V... so in order for something to go be sensed as "wrong" on the computer, you would need a bi-directional feedback from the lights back to the computer. which might be installed, if these cars have a "bulb out" indicator. i never blew a bulb in my 3G , so i wouldnt know.

the best bet possible may be to just splice the wires coming out of the fog light, and incorporate your own toggle switch to power them on & off. the switch, may look a little ghetto, but it might work!

+1 . Its safe and easies just to add a switch to fog. Simply just by pass switch combo.

ok well I looked into it and its no big deal to wire it up somewhat in the style of the 2nd gen but here is the problem.... in the manual it specifically give a diagram and explanation and shows things that are monitored n controlled...

"The ECUs on the BCAN and FCAN transmit and receive information in the form of structured messages that may be received by several different ECUs on the network at one time. These messages are transmitted and received across a communication circuit that consists of a single wire that is shared by all the ECUs on the circuit. Since messages on the FCAN are typically of higher importance, a second wire is used for communucation circuit integrity monitoring (500kbps). A backup circuit is also added to the headlight and wiper circuits on the BCAN (33.33kbps)in the event of a network wire or ECU failure that would effect the operation of the system"
in the diagram is shows that the gauge cluster is in the middle of all of this and it spilts operations in BCAN AND FCAN. on the BCAN side these are the units ( COMBO SWITCH CONTROL UNIT, MICU, RELAY CTRL MODULE, DOOR MULTIPLEX CTRL UNIT, DISPLAY PANEL CTRL UNIT, POWERSEAT CTRL UNIT, HFL, POWER MIRROR CTRL UNIT) on the FCAN (ECM/PCM, VSA, NAVI UNIT, AUDIO UNIT) and at the end of all that theres a GA-NET wire tht Im sure links it all together.

THing is when you look at the fog light relay schematic all the wires from the combo switch run into the MICU and the combo switch CTRL unit considering what it said in the statement above, the circuit would somehow be bypassed if its tampered with by the ECU. can anyone else concur or just make what their saying wrong?? lol its in the service manual for the car it pages 22-89 and 22-174

I believe that the fcan and bcan messages are mostly used by the acura technicians to diagnose problems...but i could be wrong!?

Would it be easy to just get a foglight wiring kit from pepboys and use that from th3e back of the lights and tap it back to the wire on the combo switch. You could just cut the wire before the switch and run the wire from the kit to the stock one for the oem look.

keep in mind I haven't seen the switch in the tl yet as I don't own one but I have used the foglight wiring kits in my teg. I used them for my fogs and yellow bulbs I put in my high beams as drl's

if you can trace fog light wire... i think you ll able to do it. Just cut the wire and put diode to fool the ECU. voila

Here's how the setup looks on another car...a 4.5th Generation Maxima (1999):

Back to the original thread...I think this look VERY nice on ANY car. You don't waste your bulb life, and since our cars have HID's (I have custom headlights - they have TL Bi-Xenon projectors in them) it doesn't shine a bright light at a person coming at you (although during the day it's not AS bright it's still bright).

On my Maxima...this was accomplished by cutting a wire having to do with the fog light (I forget which one as it's been a year since I did it or even looked at the instructions) and splicing it with the wires running from any of the corner lamps. Very simple, too bad the TL is so advanced.

Another benefit of this is, seeing as I live in the country, I can have my high beam HID's on AND my fog lights, providing even more light. Usually, the fog lights go off when a car turns it's high beams on. Not on my car. .
