Foglight Lens Protection
I have a 3rd gen TL (2008 Type S) and have been researching ways to protect the foglight lenses from rocks and other debris. I live in the northeast and this car is my daily driver. I was speaking to LoveMyTL-S in a different thread and he pointed me to his plexiglass DIY post. I've also seen relatively cheap products such as the Lamin-x I have listed below.

Has anyone had any experience with these foglight lens protection options? Thanks.

I have not, but it sounds like a good idea. I installed the 3M clear bra material on mine. I only have 11k miles, but no problems yet. I hate rock chips so I avoid rocky weather and highways though.

I'm in the market for some protection of the same type for my headlights. Many people on here have recommended the 3M clear material, so I'm certain it would work well on the fogs also.
A coworker recommended a similar product made by Weathertech. (link below) It looks like they sell the ones for the headlights but it mentions something about custom applications.

I would imagine any type of film helping. I also thinl plexiglass is a possible alternative. However, pg is easilly scuffed and in order for it to keep it's clarity it has to be sanded a specific way. Thus making the whole project redundant. My front w\s has an 8" visor strip of tint and since its original installation 3 years ago, I have had 3 boulders hit my w\s, chip it and NEVER anything more than just the chip. No running cracks... NOTHING!! All 3 chips were somehow hit in the area of the tint so I would have to say that maybe some strong ass laminate is your most practical solution! good luck!

Went with the 20mil clear Lamin-X. We'll see how easily it goes on when I get it. Not sure yet if I am going to put it on the chipped fog light. I'm more worried about not breaking the other one...

but yeah the issue with the films though, especially with smaller lenses, the can start to turn brown (14k miles to be more exact, when we bought the wife's subie, cause the previous owner had had the fogs cover)
and then with lower mounted lenses also, they can't always actually fully protect the lenses, cause one of the fogs still crack with the film on there, then i installed the said kit above, $30 to replace occasionally, then new housings....
so yes plexi, or lexan covers would be the way to go, especially if you made multiple lenses at the same time, then when the the old ones get to pitted, chuck them in the trash and toss on a new lense
btw the subie oem ones are only like a 1/8" thick

i have had rockblocker on mine since new, and have not had any issues ... i have heard the 3m stuff is a little thicker though so if i were to go back and do it again that is what i would go with

I bought the WeatherTech kit for the Acura TL and it comes with the headlight, fog and side mirror film. It's been on for a couple of years and still looks perfect. It's added a lot of protection for all the sand and salt blasting here in Chicago.

I have the lamin-x on my fogs. I ran the fogs none stop during last summer. After about a month the plastic started to turn brown then black. I think they are worth it, just have to change them after they burn out. Should say im running HID's on ebay accord fogs. But i dont think it maters. My friend with stock TSX fogs had the same problem.

I bought some from a company called XPEL and its worked great so far. Hasn't turned brown yet but I've only been using it for a month so far. Easy to put on so even if they do start to turn I have extra to redo it a couple more times.

Pardon my ignorance; you mention the color of the Lamin-x is just right. I thought it was a clear overlay? Your picture does seem to exhibit a very slight tint on the headlights. If I understand you correctly, what color(s) are availble or does it just come clear?

After 4 months, I haven't noticed any bit of discoloration from the lights.
Here's a link to all of the options from them: http://www.lamin-x.com/Acura-TL-2004-to-2008-s/115.htm

EDIT: Which ones would you buy for the ebay accord fog kit? 04-06 or 07-08?

Awesome; thanks Shring!
A bit confused though, the 04-06 Base didn't come stock with the lower fogs...so I'm wondering why they include those with the kit for that model. Am I missing something?
Kind of wish they'd sell just the headlight covers only. $60 is kind of steep and it'd probably knock a decent amount of the price. ($15)

Lamin-x Thums Up. Worked with the stuff for years. I always have rolls of it and cut to fit my application. Only issue is with too much heat either discolor or bubling the addhesive. But only on some cars with HIDs. Use for all my tiniting of lens front rear protection and appearance it works great.....

Thanks darling! I'll look into it a little more. My first thought was re-selling the fog ones on the Black Market...for the selling price of course!

Lamin-X arrived on Sunday. Installed them the same day. Installation was pretty easy, just need to get them away from the bumper and on the fog lights themselves. The weather is still kinda cold, so I don't think they've cured completely just yet. I'll keep checking on them...

I just install OEM glass accord fog lights on my 2005 TL. I noticed they were very hot after about 10 minutes of usage. I was wondering if you guys had the same problem with the heat in any fog lights. I want to use lamin-x, just worried how fast they will turn brown =/
