Fog lights for 3rd Gen
Ok, I'm a newbie to this site and as a TL owner. I recently bought a NBP/ 6MT/ Nav, and love it. My question is has anybody thought of a way to mount foglights on it. I know that there are fog lights in the light assembly but i mean in the lower grill area. If anybody has any ideas or even pics please post. Also I want to thank you for all the information that I got from your posts.
ideas were tossed around but no one has come back with results. the thing is the TL is a bottom feeder on the driver side. that is where the cold air is rushed up to try and cool the air intake. putting a foglight in that location might interfere with that process. even if the was not a problem you would have to come up with some custom lower grill or at least cut out some of the existing one to fit foglights. its certainly not an impossible task but the effort might not be all that worth while.
There are some pics of TSX with Fogs put in the grill area. Search in TSX forum. The guy also have a 3rd gen TL and was going to install. Do not remember the member name. Search is your best bet.

This the one? --> http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/612737
A stock TSX has halogen high beams, so the 15-degree aux driving lights augmented the beam pattern down the road. Real good illumination at a half-mile. The 90-degree fogs were pure yellow, excellent for any kind of particulate condensation.
In contrast, the high beam of the bi-Xenons on the TL give a wide, even swath of light (akin to fluorescents). That's about a 40-degree cone of light. I'd like the pattern better if it didn't make the ground directly in front of the TL so bright, because that affects your distance sensitivity. And high beams don't have the same purpose as driving lights -- once you've used drivers, you feel like there's a hole in your night vision without them. But they're still a lot better than the stock lamps on my Yukon, for example.
The built-in TL foglights are 55-watt halogens with a good dispersal pattern and cutoff. One problem with them is that they only work in conjunction with your Xenon low-beams. The color is wrong for fog (and rain, and snow). The mounting location, inboard of the low beams, is poor. So these are in essence "fogs for people who don't need fogs", nor know how to use them.
It's looking increasingly likely that I'll add two sets of Bosch Compact 100 lights (white drivers + yellow fogs) like we had on the TSX. Although I've Zaino'ed the lady twice, we haven't had time for me to crawl around underneath to look for solid mounting points. The plastic lower "grill", like on the TSX, seems to serve no purpose other than to help the polyurethane bumper retain its shape.
Hope this helps! Suggest you initiate a conversation with Daniel Stern at http://www.danielsternlighting.com specifically about the Bosch Compact 100 sets. (You can also spend your money on PIAAs, but in my research their offerings weren't as good for the money you'll spend.)
