FOG light help...

alright so heres the deal i am looking to get fog lights for my 04 TL i met up with TL2slow today and his car is definetly one of the nicer TL's ive seen in person... he has The Ebay fog lights and put 6000K HiD's in them this looks absolutly sick and i wanted to do it to my car but everyone is always saying that if you put HID's in the ebay fog lights that they will melt... he has themon day and night for the past week and he said he doesnt have any problems with them(knock on wood for him) will i have a problem if I put HID's in the ebay fogs overtime? now when i left his house i was all for it but stopped at my pizzeria on the way home and one of my workers told me that someone who used to work at another pizzeria once that he worked with put HID's in his car and his car caught fire within 2 hours of doing them... this story kindaaa made me uneasy about them... please Chime in everyone

There are plenty of people who have the ebay fogs wtih hids. There is no problem with them. if that dudes car caught on fire, he connected something wrong, overfused, or had a short/ground. where was the fuse at??? either way, go ahead!! im planning of dong mine real soon as well, just the install, i'll do HIDS later i just want to get the fogs in now. i have the aspec lip so its a little more work but its nothing. i also plan on doing 6000K hids. ABP04tl has 6k hid ebay fogs and them things are sick, his whole car is f*ing sick to include the reverse 6k Hids. GO AHEAD DO THEM!!!! post some pics too

they won't melt. a lot of my friends have those ebay fogs on, as well as the aftermarket oem look a likes. unless those are trash, then I dont know.

what happened to the guy with the car fire sounds like an electrical problem just as the OP said.

Tim - did you buy the fogs yet? Did you get the accord ones? I was going to do these in my car this summer, so let me know what you got and how they turned out, I've been comparing some different ones.

I have ebay fogs plus HID's.. I run them shits like DRL's.. no issues. First of all, the 35W HID's generate less heat than 55W halogens so I do not see why they would melt if they can accomodate halogens.

Just get a good HID kit with a good warranty and good customer service. And no reason to buy into all the Kaixen and Philips hype. I can direct you towards getting good HID equipment for very decent prices.

i have the ebay accord fogs on my 05 SSM TL and i have no problems with the HIDs on mine..i have 10000k bulbs in them and i run those with my stock fogs at the top using an independant switch two switch on all four fogs only...and i have no problems with them. i used h11 bulbs i think so they're really short and dont come that close to the lense of the fog so i doubt they will melt. i payed $67 shipped for my fogs and $70 for my HID kit locally. you should have no problem as long as u wire everything properly.

That is great news! I was looking for some OEM blackhouse fogs. I just checked ebay as well and found the smoked ones. The seller was cosmodynamic. Is that the same set you are talking about?

Yea they are the same ones. I am actually now in the process of getting an 07/08 base bumper due to a divet in my current bumper that can't be fixed by popping it out. Anyone know if the 03-05 sedan fogs fit that bumper as well as the 04-06 TL or just the 04-06? I know there are slight differences in the bumpers and am wondering if it is slight to the point that these fogs won't work. That would suck because I don't see blackhoused fogs for the 07/08 TL.

the accord fogs don't fit very well in the 04-06 tl either. alot of cutting and sanding to make them fit. so i'm sure the 07-08 bumper would require just as much or less cutting.

Yea I remember reading that in my search but didn't see anything about the 08 base bumper having or not having the ability to fit these accord fogs. My thinking behind getting the 08 base bumper is to avoid a lot of that cutting since the bumper grills seem to have the cutouts already there thus all I would have to do is simply add lights.

Vtec, I have read your DIY before and actually saved it for when they day comes that I end up doing this. Is your install done on the 08 bumper or the 04 bumper? Or did you mention it in your link and I missed it...
