It's not bad, and it's ok, as long as conditions permit it. You can't hurt the engine or transmission because the computer will protect you and them from mechanical harm. Physical harm is a different thing and you have to protect yourself from that.

I can't really say it's good because flooring the gas pedal is not required for proper operation, but I can say it feels good to do it sometimes, especially when you get over 4,700rpm and the VTEC kicks in.

I have head some folks say that flooring it every now and then can actually be GOOD for the motor! It is said that it "loosens" up the motor a bit...not to dissimilar to not keeping the car at a constant speed while you are in the break in stage of ownership. I don't have any evidence to back it up but it sure is fun!

its fun yea, I especially love flooring it a 3000 rpm and then having the vtec kick in at 4700. Its like dbl wot (wide open throttle)... nice... but yea its also a fantastic way to ruin your gas mileage. With gas prices the way they are its almost ruining driving. I remember when I firsted started driving I drove a 92 4runner (POS IMO) but even still gas was only 89 a gallon so I would take fun drives just to free my mind (kind of like running to clear your head). Now gas is 2.70, no one knows why, ppl pretend to know, the news likes to think they do, but only the Arabs truly know :angryfire ... assholes.. newho yea ironic that the second I get the first car with good mileage and a blast to drive it starts to cost me an 1/4 of an accord car payment a week to fill her.. meh.. I dont mind putting in premium at all, its the overall prices in general. Sorry had to vent!

In older Porsches it was recommended to get to redline on a regular basis to remove deposits that build up in the engine. I believe the newer engines don't really need this but it couldn't hurt

I think it is bad for the car if you DON'T keep it floored 100% of the time.

bad for gas thats for sure. at 2.80/gallon for premium, I noticed that I rarely floor it anymore unless I absolutely have to.

once in awhile shouldn't do any harm.

honda engines are designed for high rpm performance.

Oddly enough.....on a "floor" last night (was humid) I got a backfire at high RPM! That was a first! Kind of freaked me out!
