First two kills after my mods!

It has been three weeks after installing my AEM CAI with Thermo-Tec insulation, Underdriven pulley, and Outlaw Thermal spacers. This past week I have been working pretty last. The only good thing was it was after rush hour, so it was smooth sailing driving home.

The first night I was heading down the highway cruising at 70 mph in the fast lane. There was another highway merging ahead to mine. Here comes a 350z coming off the merging highway and in the lane right next to me. He was cruising slower than me, but spead up to catch up. I knew what the deal was, so I dropped to 4th! Eventhough he was accelerating before I did, he was stuck at my right rear tire. Then I went WOT. I knew he was trying, because he was sticking with me for a bit! Next thing I know, he started falling back. By the time I got to 110, he was well over 5 cars behind! Wow! Didn't do that before!

The second was with a co-worker who had a modded 04 Mustang GT last night. I think he told me that he had a CAI and aftermarket exhaust. At least it sounds like a custom exhaust. We got off at the same time, and he pulled out after I did. When we got on the highway, he pulled up next to me wanting to race. I could hear that he dropped to a lower gear from his exhaust, so I did the same. He blew his horn three times then we were off! I pulled a car length on him! I definitely couldn't do that before!

I love my new mods!

awesome kills... ...especially on your co-worker's mustang...i've never cared for the mustang because i see it as an overpriced sports car that can't hang with the best of them...

i've had my AEM CAI for about a month and a half and love it! ...i'll be getting the OE thermoblock spacers next and then the UR pulley...

did you put the Thermo-Tec insulation just over your CAI? ...i've never heard of them (Thermo-Tec), but after you mentioned it, it's caught my interest...

Thanks. Yes, I've got the insulation raped from the filter to where it connects to the throttlebody. I can't really tell the difference yet because of the cold weather, but the car still feels good. Here is the link to where you can find it.

I think the 350Z stopped trying b4 you pulled 5 cars on him. Not doubting that you killed him but the 350z is pretty fast on the freeway and should have kept up.

that sounds like a decent mod for the money, especially in the summer. wintertime it won't really do much if anything. I think I'll give that thermo-tec stuff a try in the summer as well as the TB coolant bypass mod to go along with my thermoblok spacer kit.......that should keep the intake charge really cool even in the heat.

thanks for the link t0talacuratl...since my intake is already on, i don't want to pay to have it taken off, install the thermo-tec, then re-install the intake...so i'll probably pass on that, but still plan to get the OE thermoblock spacers and UR pulley...leaving off the thermo-tec insulation shouldn't make that much of a difference...

Well kill number three after my mods just happen last night on my way back from the video store on the highway. Low and behold it was a 350Z! Do these things fall off of trees or what? This time it was a different color, but similar year as before. I was just mining my own, when he pulled up next to me. I dropped to 4th as usual tapped the gas to tease him. When he did the same, I know what time it was. We were both at around 70 mph, then hit it! Same result as before; I pulled on him instantly! I couldn't tell how bad because he was in my blind spot. When I let off, he came flying by a second later! I had to get off at the next exit, but I proved my point.

BTW, I have raced 350Z's before the mods and we were always dead even. I've even driven one; except for the looks they don't impress me.

yeah, i was gonna say the same thing, lostkhan...at 70, you can drop down to 3rd and get a lil more juice, then shift to 4th...leave his ass even quicker...

better yet shoot it to 2nd really quick and into 3rd you'll chirp your tires and then really get a jump on him. Going 70 in 4th in my car is much slower than a 5spd so I utilize 2nd and 3rd to their fullest.

That maybe true, but 4th does enough for me. I dropped it into 3rd once before, but didn't like it. It seems like overkill, plus it rev so close to redline to me. I get more than enough response in 4th.

Another kill!

Race number four after my mods, and guess with what? Another pre-05 Mustang GT. I'm starting to think the 350Z's and the stangs got it in for me. They all heard about me in VA and got a warrent for my kill! LOL!

Anyway, it happen last night on my way to get some gas. It's a good thing I was at a quarter of a tank, when I ran into a guy driving a GT. I was actually trying to play it cool because I wasn't in the mood. We were on a 4 lane highway. There were three cars including the GT lined up in all of the lanes except the fast lane. I was only going 65 mph myself. I got into the open lane and sped up to get around the rest of the pack.

I guess I triggered the GT, because he was in the lane next to me. He started matching my speed. I said to myself "here we go again"! I dropped it into 4th. Remembering what you guys said earlier and decided to drop to 3rd this time. Well as soon as he heard my growl, the stang stomped on it! I did the same and wow! I nearly jumped 4 cars on him! I had to slow down just to see if he was really racing or not! He caught up, and we did it again! Same thing! I finally let off and slowed to 65 again. He slowly cruised up next to me and looked over with a nod. I returned the favor, but was embarrassed for him when I saw his girl in the passenger seat. Oh well.

Thanks for the advice about the 3rd gear! I really makes a difference!

haha, there you go! it does make a difference...very nice kill...

so you walked a GT, huh? man, i've been waiting to race one those...i can't stand mustangs and everyone i see around here driving a GT thinks they're hot shit...i'd love to take one down...

i had a 2000 something Grand Prix (GT?) trying to keep up with me last night, but i won't get into that because i made a turn instead of giving him a lesson...plus i didn't wanna waste my gas...

Kill #5 after mods!

It really isn't worth mentioning, but killed a modded non-type s RSX. I was on my way home from work when I notice this RSX speeding up in my rear view. He passed me about a car length ahead then matched my speed which was 65 mph. I noticed he had an aftermarket exhaust and rims. The only funny thing was His exhaust was hanging out of place. He ended up beside me, then I notice he dropped a gear from the sound of his exhaust. Here we go again!

I dropped to 4th then started accelerating slowly at first. Then I hit it! I didn't even make it to 90 mph before I was a few cars ahead. So I slowed down to watch him speed pass me. Then he slowed after finding out the race was over already. What a waste! Then he had to nerve to slow down right next to me again. No thanks, I tired of wasting my gas now.

I think I'm just going to take a break from racing for now. Just until I run into worthy opponents anyway.
