First time you saw the 3G TL

When was the first time you saw a 3G TL? What were you thinking and what was your opinion of it?

I remember seeing a NBP TL parked in a parking lot as i was walking with by bro to a store. I immediatly thought "Nice car, i like the stock tips". Then there was another time when i was in the car with my brother and a NBP TL pulled up next to us on a red light. I looked over and saw it drive away and thought to myself "Nice".

I think my 12 yr old boy and I were driving/maybe like 35mph from a stop light in spring of 2004....

A blue 3g freaking gunned it hard while passing me. she sounded sweet, we just looked @ each other with a big smile....

I purchased my 2005 01.21.05 I love this car

first time i saw one was when I was at a dealer. fell in love with the car immediately. only disappointing thing was it was not made in Japan (RL, TSX were) but that's about it.

I first saw it at a local car show in 2003. DMM/parchment. I remember sitting in it and deciding right then that I had to have one. Now I'm on #2!

I remember the first time I saw a 3G. It was a NBP 6mt and actually it was at a car show. After the show he raced my friend in his WRX and I remember very vividly that the WRX just barely walked on him. I might have the crappy cell phone video somewhere if I look.

Most cars in my price range at that time bored me. The first time I was in my GN and followed it trying to get a better look and see what model it was. Dude must've thought I was trying to race him or stalk him because he floored it.

I went home and immediately googled it and fell more in love when I saw the interior.

I ended up dating a chick with a new '05 so I drove that a few times and loved how nice it was when we went out of town on trips. At the end of '05 I purchased my '06.

It still looks great today but I remember that feeling I got when I saw the first one and I specifically remember thinking it looked better than the 3 series and any Lexus in that price range.

I remember the EXACT moment... Getting off work (about 3am) with my fellow co-workers, as we were exiting the building we ran into a supervisor that was getting off early. We all had a thing for her as she was, how should I say.. hot. She joined us walking out of the building to the parking lot. She pulled out her keys and click, we see lights flash on her car... it was a 3G. We all stopped dead in our tracks. I think its safe to say we all were thinking the same thing... Hot chick + Hot car = WIN.

Ever since then I drooled over all of them I saw. Then 3 years ago my wife suggested I should get a new car.. another win! 3G search was on.

To be honest I liked the 3G when it first came out but didn't pay much attention to it until I was looking for a car and now I'm in love with it

I can't remember the first time I saw one, but the first time I rode in one, I was, well...wow. Very aggressively styled, but still a good looking car. Plus, there is a "wow" factor to this car.

Saw it a few times around and never really paid much attention to it. Till I saw it at the dealer then I thought. Wow nice interior. Drove it around the block and to the freeway and I was like hmn... Handles fairly well with good power for stock. Went to Lexus and was disapointed. Then I went for my target car the audio A8 and the interior sucked even worst and overpriced. And yet I kept comparing all cars to the TL since the RL was uglier lol I got the TL. Cashed it out and paid off just like that. lol.

nice thread...i remember the first time i "noticed" the 3g TL, was when a buddy of mine bought one back in 05. he let me drive it a few times, and i fell in love with the looks and power. it wasn't until 07 when they came out with the type-s that i decided i wanted one. took me 3 years to get it...but i finally got one back in june.

he proceeded to total his a few months after he bought it, and replaced it with a ford exploder...

Anyone notice that ALL the TL's in the 2004 TL commercials were 6MT Navi's?

A friend of mine was "there first" with a NBP back in 2003. I remember he showed up at a barbecue at my townhouse and everyone there was drooling over it. I was too busy hosting to really pay attention, but thought it seemed like a pretty nice car.

Fast forward 2 years to when I was shopping for a car and started looking at brand new Camrys and Accords, didn't like how either drove and didn't like how the price tag crept up so quickly when it was trimmed out the way wanted. I then quickly realized that was just silly and went for a slightly used TL instead. The second I sat in one and drove, I fell in love. The handling reminded me of my Celica, but this was a sedan... and the Bluetooth and Navi really sold me. Very, very glad I made that decision.

In 2004, I was only a year out of school with no cash and a turbo civic. I saw them, but knew it was way out of my price range. After working a few years and and getting other essentials out of the way, I saw a used one at a Chevy dealer on the way home from work. The next Saturday, it was raining and my wife and I were looking for something to do. She said as soon as I mentioned test driving it, she knew I was going to take it home. I sat in the 04 and fell in love. I was amazed at the interior and had to have it.

First time I saw it was in Florida. I was in a disney bus traveling back to the airport and saw the green 3G. Lucky the bus was slow so I had a good chance to see it from rear end to the front. Also the commercials back then were so much better than now. Acura design and marketing has FAILED bigtime nowadays.

The first time I saw the TL was back in 2004. One of my best friends parents got them the car back in high school.

He called me up on day and was like I'm stopping by to show you my new car. I was aight cool. I heard somethin off in the distance, sound pretty nice ( he already put mufflers on it). I looked up knowing right away that was him for sure. From that point on, I knew I wanted the TL too.

I saw my first TL at the Milwaukee Auto Show in 2003. I said to myself, "I wish I could afford a car like that."

I bought a 2004 two years ago, crashed it, and now own a 2007 TL-S

The first thing I thought of when I saw a TL is the sportiness of the car.

Smile Love at first sight!

Car and Driver magazine in October 2003 is where I first saw the 3G and instantly fell in love with the body. I knew I had to have one someday and it would have to be the 6spd since it had the limited slip diff. and the 4 piston Brembos. I drove to Austin, Tx(250 miles away) in Oct. 2006 to buy a 2004 6spd.
I love my TL! It is the perfect balance of comfort, reliability, value, and performance in a daily driver.

Haha, first time I saw one I thought it looked fantastic. Then I realized how much that sucked because the value of my 00 TL was about to tank...and it did by 2 grand in 6 months. Oh well, I later bought a 3g

Lucky for you now as the 4G will surely make the value of the 3G stay up!

x 2. I had a couple of buddies who each got an '04 in a different color, but I never really noticed them.

I had been car shopping and really didn't pay attention to the TL until my wife wanted me to get a car with an auto trans instead of the manual TSX, RX-8, G35, etc. that I had been considering. I thought anything less than 6 cylinders would be a dog with an auto, so I considered the TL, and saw some nice comments about it in car mags.
Man, the interior on the G was a big let-down compared to the auto TL, which was much quieter and just as punchy as the auto G35. Dropped all thoughts of the G and negotiated the deal on the TL by phone after getting home from the test drive.

Exterior looks are not my main priority, so I didn't realize how good looking the TL was until a few days after I bought mine-- then I realized how taut and refined the car looked, with a certain underlying aggressiveness. Much better looking than the 1G TSX, G35 and RX-8, too.

The first time I really noticed one was actually at a General Motors "Test Drive" event. GM brought in many other manufacturers cars for comparison against their cars in every class. They let everyone test drive all of them around decent sized cone courses (like an autocross). We drove just about everything that day, but the car that really stood out was the 3G TL (5AT). Between the 3 of us, we drove the car 9 times. Of course the final lap resulted in us getting the boot as I was squealing tires around the entire coarse. I remember at one point I was being pelted in the drivers seat by bits of rubber from the front tires...

At the time I never would have believed I would be able to afford one. Of course years later I managed to get my hands on 05 6MT for a great price and rest is history. I can't imagine owning any other sports-sedan...

My neighbor 2 doors down is a lead engineer for acura here in Columbus Ohio and he brought a 3G home for testing and let me drive it for feedback. He and his team were responsible for the interior design. Wanted one ever since that day. I just let the BMW world for the past 8 years this past weekend. Bought a 2007 ASM type S and love her.

Wow. He and his team made my decision to buy one easy. I love the outside and many other things but the interior sealed the deal.

Back around 2003 I had been looking to get a new G35 for about a year or two I think. I was set to purchase one when someone posted a pic of the new 3G - it was a spyshot on a New York City street. I still remember that pic. I had been looking at a G35 for months, but in a matter of minutes my opinion changed - I knew I wanted this new 3G. What really convinced me was not just the fact the exterior looked good, but the interior looked space-age/futuristic (NBP/Ebony combo). I bought one on October 25, 2003. I still own her and she's been ridiculously fun and reliable to drive. I don't regret the purchase one bit and she's still sexy as hell.
