first race in the old tl

today gave me a new appreciation for the tl and now im might consider some slight mods any ways long story short my neigh boor just got an 06 mazda 6 and he was bragging to me and all his friends how fast it was ...according to him 220 hp with 200 lbs of torque ....with only 40 000km ...
my tl 2000 tlp with nearly 300 000 km on 2nd tranny ....so i was washing my car earlier and he kept asking me to race him as he beat most of his friends cars so far ....so i ended up racing him and might i say i was really impressed by the tl i smoked him so bad

Ppl really don't know what our cara are capable of. Makes it a nice and clean sleeper. Especially when u have a few mods. Best band for the buck, leight weight pulley, intake, headers, catback exhaust

Regarding the sleeper - Also, it seems most people that own TL's (other than here on Acurazine) are old, conseravtive people. So, the TL has a "calm, mild-manner car" image. Really adds humor when I pull ahead of thumper motorcycles and C5 vettes.

hmm...it should've been closer shouldn't it? I mean the TL has 220 hp as well, and considering tha you have a solid 260k on him, I'd think he'd win. Way to beat him though. Goes to show how strong these cars are.

more details i thought it was pretty well detailed anyways he had a v6 mazda 6 and we raced rolling at about 20 and i gate shifted instead of using sport shift as using sport shift makes my car feel like my 1990 civic hb lol i dont know about any 1 else that uses ss mode.....
my other friend has the 4 banger mazda speed six but i wouldnt race him as i would be wasting my gas for now as the 4 banger is rated 275 hp......

im not a mechanic or anything but i think having that many km you might only lose a couple hp as my 1992 acura vigor can still keep up with most newer cars and i have 396 521 km on it and need i mention im still on the original tranny lol wish the tl had the same tranny as my vigor as the vigor seems impossible to kill

im thinking u ment 175 hp

a lighter car with a manual trans will be a good match for u. if ur stock ur putting down about 185-195whp and ur a few hundred pound heavier. manual trans will put down more power than auto. so it would be a good race.

I guess when he said it would be a waste of gas.. he meant he'd get killed. lol.. I thought the same thing as Raj when he put 4-banger and 275.. I missed the "Mazda speed" part..
