been a while since i posted. i stop posting because i was kinda upset with my car. things are getting sorted out and hope it comes back like new... here it goes

March 26, 2005 beautiful day so i thought i would take my girlfriend and baby sister out to hang out... you know, so i go to the bank to withdraw some money and i pull up to the lot and wait for this guy to come out his parking space so i can proceed through the lot... next thing you know this old man in a red astro lookin van backs up into me. and tried to run... i got out the car had my girl write his plates and i open his door and i said politely can you pull over and get out the car. so he did got his information filed a police report. april 20th went to get a price quote damage was worth 1200 or around there i forgot.... right now the car isnt in the shop yet... i just moved to the area so im still searchign for a high quality body shop and a auto rental so i can rent a car to commute to work and school.. you guys have any suggestion when looking for a body shop... what question i should ask them and what should i look for.... the damage is on the driver door, fender, and pillar, and rear driver door. i have pics but not of the rear driver doors. i warn 56k dont open it.. it has 23 high quality pics... i know its not nessesary for 23 pics but i tried to get it at every angle i can... so plz post your opinion and advice... sorry for the long post and heres the link to the pics..

That sux but a have a question: in one of the pics towards the top of the page you can see the reflection of a red vehicle that isnt the one that hit you is it I mean if it was me I think I d be smackinig the guy with the camera instead.

 

hahahahaah funny you asked... the van that hit me was the same color.. but that car in the reflection is my aunts car.. i took these pics on my driveway and she happen to be home that time... didnt even realized it till now... good eye... in my paragraph i stated it was a van... =)

 

when I saw that I was thinking "I just know he aint taking pics at the scene."

 

lol i should of... hope i can get a rental soon and put her in the shop its been a month.. its starting to have rust and stuff

i recently move the the suburbs as u can see from my profile.. move from the bronx.. i bought it cz i go back home to the bronx to visit but so far i didnt have to use it... and now i live in the suburbs i leave my windows open and car started when i run into the supermarket.. so i wont have to use it at all.. i park my car in the lot when i go to the bronx =) all the parrallel parking dont do for me hehe... so no i havent used it yet and hope i never have to... main reason i got it was because it saves me money on my insurance premiums... 30% off!!!! cant beat that for 600 bucks

 

Man that sucks, he got you pretty good. In my former experiences I've noticed smaller shops usually take car of you car because they need the referal. Make sure you state it clear to everyone that you need you car back brand new! G'Luck!

Make sure they give you a new door skin and not a bondo job.

yes thats what i wanted a new door panel fender and not just no dam bondo.... and by the way im thinking about taking the car to the shop they recommended is that a good idea... will they try to pull some strings? and should i request fro new door panel and fender... how do i go about getting new door panel and fender

IMHO I would first ask around to ANYONE you know that has an Acura and needed work. I have a 2003 Mini Cooper and when I got in an accident in January of 2004 I knew of nobody who I would trust. I ended up asking around and found out that a friend of mine is a friend of a mechanic that works at a Mini dealership and he told me where to take it. In other words put the word out to everyone you know in the area and see where they have had a good experience. If you get no responses there I would as your Acura service rep.

In regards to your question about the new door panel and fender DEFINITELY get a written estimate before you let the body shop do work on your car that states all the parts will be NEW ACURA parts. I have asked for that before and the shop I went to was more then willing to provide that.

I took mine to Mike's Auto body in New Brunswick. They did an excellent job for me.
If they are too far, ask your local Acura dealership to recommend a place.

 

Definatly bring it somewhere ASAP. YOu dont want to end up as one of those people who "never got around to it." You know the drill, first month a scrath, a year later, a dent, in five years it looks like a beater. Gotta keep your second girlfriend in Tip/Top condition.

 

i got a rental just yesterday.. an 05 camry. and im planning to bring the tl to the shop they recommended cause i haev no friends around the area.. i just recently moved up here.. and as for the estimate i already got it done but it doesnt state that i will be getting new parts... im gonna try to request it at the shop see what they can do... ill keep u guys all updated... *crosses fingers* hope i get new oem parts...

 

ok i took the car to the place they recommended... i asked for new parts.. and the guy is willing to get me a new door panel only.. the fender will b repaired and shuold be lookin like new as he promised.. the guy seemed real nice. its gnona take them 3 days to get the parts. so its gonna be about a week till the car is fully repaired.. i lefted my car there... i will take pics of finish car... hope things go well... keep checkin.. i think i will make a new post when i get the car back with pics of the car repaired...
